I have a preran 73 impala. Needs ball joints and tie rods. I'm looking to beef it up a bit. Could I use parts from a truck to make it tougher? If so what truck/ year? Try 79 chevy 1/2 ton
Cant be sure they will fit , but I did use the brake rotor off my Caprice on my half ton

What's the advantage of swapping old iron steering box to the astro van? Also heard you can swap 70s spindles to 80s ford to gain height. Any truth to that?

is it wise to strap a arms down to gain max height up front on a 74 poncho Why max height? I thought Gms should be level In the middle so both ends of the car have symmetry and preform equally well? Less chance of blowing humps and less the front is angled upwards the less it wants to go up..?. Just my thoughts... On my Monte Carlo I've even thought of setting the ass higher than front. Id love to get a debate started of which way is the best to set the suspension, because I believe it can make or break a car. Just a beginner looking for info

What are you guys doing with your power steering pumps ? I keep wrecking pulleys on mine
Also any tips on getting the pulleys off ? I have a few pumps that I'm not sure work , but a known good one with a bent pulley DD high mount kit. Pump mounts up on the head out of harms way for the most part. Had great luck compared to pile of bent stock gm pumps

IDK exactly, but it is worth the effort. If I remember correctly is a couple inches. However the Ford spindles might be a little weaker by design IDK. Most people who run CV spindles on GMs don't run loaded rims. JMO

Just a beginner looking for info There are allot of variables to consider. In bone stock form as high in the front as possible and high in the back or level is typically the safest. it has everything to do with what the competition is running in your area. However there are not many bone stock cars anymore. JMO

I want to hardnose a 73 gm but my suspension is maxed out and bumper sits 6 inches lower than it did with the cups on it.

What you lost in height wil be more than regained in the better leverage on the frame horns. Like someone else said its all about the buils style of the guys around you also.

So it will have less leverage? Guys around me run bumpers pretty high. But its a A-arm forward weld show.

correct, there is much less leverage on the end of your frame with it dropped to the level of the rail. Its not nearly as likely to snoot up a-arms forward in this configuration.

That makes sense now. I will hardnose then and just drive smart so some body's bumper don't end up in my carb. Thank you I appreciate the help.

Looking at putting a manual s10 steering box on my 76 olds 98. does anyone know if it will bolt up to Frame? How about pitman arm? Haven't picked one up yet just trying to find out if I'm going in right direction or if I'm just out to lunch on this one.
Thanks
