Will SBC headers bolt up to a 4.4 liter engine its a 81 caprice wagon. That's a 267 right? Yes they are a regular SBC, just don't expect alot of power. Lol Yeah its a 267. Thanks. Its a great running rusty wagon dads running it in a stock class before we crush it!

i think flared is to give it a different sound. Not sure if there are any noticable differences besides that. Harder to get covers to fit and collect more rain like a funnel?!?

How different is the sound? I'm looking for a different sounds than the guys I run with. Right now I have 4 in a row top turnouts. And thinking about buying the 4 in to 1s with the flared collector. Just now sure if I wanna run 1 1/2 inch or 1 3/4 inch tubing. Thanks

what the guys run you are with? Turn outs too?
Around here in the north Turn outs are only allowed if you are from Minnesota, driving a Mopar, or a Modded Truck...

Same question has been asked on a previous thread, view here. I would agree with the thread, different sound does little else, or little enough to be recognized in a derby track performance wise. As for making it harder to finding covers, if you cut off a Gatorade bottle about midway up, the bottle will actually snap onto the flared end. Of course this doesn't do too well if the exhaust is warm, but as far as just keeping something over the openings it works quite well because you can't knock them off. It also snaps on tight enough to stay on when hauling the car down the road. Here is a youtube video that shows what a collector does on a header, link. If you are curious to see if the flare makes a difference recreate what's on the video using a collector with a flare and one without.

it's just like a tuba or trumpet.... flare projects the sound.

it's just like a tuba or trumpet.... flare projects the sound. So.... What would happen if I made them the size of a tuba and out of brass? Would they sound awesome? Lol

Just read a couple forums on the subject of zoomies (4in a row) vs. Collector(4into1) headers what I got out of it is on a 1000 hp engine you lose about 40hp with zoomies so about 4 percent of power just from header choice not alot but still a difference

do you guys notice any difference between the different brands of headers? im running a mild 302 and only dec and Elliot motorsports makes headers for a 302 that I can think of off hand I have a set of 4 in a row 1 1/2 inch top turnouts but im thinking about going with something else. I want a little different sound than everybody elses 4 into 1's. are any other brands making ford headers or what brand would you guys go with dec or elliots? what style is you guys favorites? I almost thought about a set of 4 into 1's with a flared collector but I cant decide

If you have a set that is not bent all to hell and still works good, spend your money on something more important than a different sound. JMO
