They r idiots n I've been to his show before n inspection is not fair. Last year some cars had halo to frame, but not allowed. I don't think they r that knowledgeable of the parts. I was thinking bout a 75 monte with matching shocks, drilled n compressed. Just don't know how to sneak a weld on them lol. I've been trying to figure out how to build this for stock show (79 deville). Thanks Tommy g productions ( colorado state fair) www.tommygproductions.com/events/demolitionDerby.php

Mount the bumper, drill a small hole to let gas/oil out, compress shocks, mark both sides of the shock, remove bumper, remove shocks, plug weld, bolt, or crush shock so it cant move (compressed of course with marks lined up) then reinstall everything.

I have read this thread. I didn't see any remarks on metric caprice police package cars as far as aluminum backed bumpers up to 1990. Does anyone know if the police package caprice cars were outfitted with steel backings?

Trying to resurrect my 76 Buick roundy for the 7th time. I'm gonna hard nose a 76 Bonniville bumper on the front. The frame is getting weak for sure and I have had to cut the front back just a bit. The bumper is fresh and clean and seam welded. Any opinions on mounting it normal or flipping it???

How does a 75 riviera bumper hold up for a stock class shocks compressed no welding? Thinking about putting it on a metric caddy. Thanks in advance.

Which years and which bumpers between the 74-77 Malibu and Monte Carlo bumpers are best? It'll be seam welded, but that's it and it's going on a stock metric Caddy. I attempted to go through the last 22 pages but couldn't decipher which was the best between Monte vs Malibu.

And if I understand the 74/75 Monte is a better bumper than the 76/77 monte correct?

And if I understand the 74/75 Monte is a better bumper than the 76/77 monte correct? Yes. 74-5 have no turn signals, 76-7 do.

I like the 76-77 for that reason though, corners are weaker but tends to move bumper instead of shifting rails. Atleast on a stocker build.

l run a big old Buick bumper stuffed from end to end on my cars (stockish build, stock bracket or shock welded to one side of the frame)
Never lost a steering component on a car it’s been on, just can’t go out and hit stuff with the corner. Gotta pick your poison in my opinion, risk loosing steering or bending the car. I’d rather have steering.
