Should I use the steel bumper off an 83 Park Avenue or try to find something else..would it be worth running A 76 Monte is a good option for the front of a metric... I wouldn't be scared to run the factory bumper though....

Any are good for your car if you set up the rails right on the 73

Hopefully I give enough info to ask this question correctly. 74 caddy front bumpers seems like no one has high regard for them, but if I take a square tube to run from rail to rail then cut the bumper open just enough to slide over the tube, would this be enough to make the bumper decent? It will be going on either a cold bent 80's gm wagon or a stock 03. Cant load bumper completely, rules say allowed any seam welded factory bumper or a 4x4x1/4 square tube wrapped in a chrome skin.

4x4x1/4" alone would be a good bumper for most cars

I've seen a '74 Impala front split on a Chevy, but never seen a '74 Monte split...... Just sayin......... both are very good bumpers for the front of an Impala.

What's the best bumper to use on front of 79 deville? Very stock show. Rule is as follows
All bumpers must remain as stock. Five mph or shock bumpers will be allowed only on vehicles of that year for which they were manufactured. No new replacement shocks allowed.

Can you seam weld the bumper together? Are you allowed to weld the shocks?

A 74-75 monte and a 77-79 seville are direct swaps but both are better with some welding and or at least new bolts to hold it together. You can use any decent bumper like a impala if you take the chrome skin off, drill new holes to mount the reinforcement/backer to the shocks, add new bolts, and then replace the chrome skin with new bolts. BTW the 77-79 Seville shocks are bigger than the deville shocks. It all depends on your creativity and availability of parts. For a bone stock show I wouldn't even be afraid to run a 70s ford bumper. Are you allowed to drill a hole to let the gas/oil out and then collapse the shock and put it in a press and crush it so it cant move? Who is your promoter? Those rules are poorly written and confusing. Have you ran this show before? What bumpers are everyone else running?

After further thought, your promoter is an idiot. Are you going to try to tell me that he can tell by looking what year every chrome bumper is. Furthermore can he tell by looking at a bumper shock if it is the same year as the car and if its new or used? If he can do that he is way smarter than any inspector that I have ever met including myself. I say he is an idiot and his written rules suck and are likely not even attempted to be enforced. JMO
