Anyone know why an AOD would neutral out when going from 2-3? I pulled the pan no shavings or grime. The TV bushing was broken I fixed that already.I'm not familiar with workings of the valve body. thanks.

I have an AOD in my 88 town car...never buikt or have experience with a floorshifter...not really wanting to buy one since its 150+ dollars. Anyone have experience making their own floorshifter to connect to trans or is the money worth it to buy? Im pretty decent mechanic but i dont want to get in too deep and fudge it all up. Thanks Grimmlin16

Thanks Grimmlin16 I built one for my 91 vic for this year it's worked pretty good around the yard. Just make sure you put some kind of stop so you don't accidently stuff it in park. I have mine mounted to te floor pan.

Thank you wreckage. Ive done tons of research thanks to demolitionmissions. He made it seem easy but im new to all this being my second season. I figure i can do it i guess i got to do the push button first to see if i can start in gear anyways before i tackle the shifter

i would never build a shifted mounted to the floor if its not a cable shifter. I posted pictures of the trans mounted shifter I built for a aod on here a few times under different sections. However I can't remember which sections I had them posted in.

Then you have bye passed the neutral safety switch. So if you hooked up your push button. It will start while the trans is in gear.

Should i just keep the column shifter and turn key the way it is?

It can be done on a stock car. My vic is a stock build. I don't like using the key because they can be lost or broken off.are you wiring your push button straight to the starter solidnoid then to the battery?
