Check that the rear end spins easily. If it's bound it might cause those types of issues. Rear end of car spins freely or are you talking about the transmission? Could it be the motor? When I shift into any gear I have to step on the throttle pretty hard and hold the brake for the car to stay running.

I was taking about the rear end... But if it spins freely then that's not it. Might be a timing issue if it stalls under load... Or a carb issue...

Thanks a lot for the advice guys. I think it is the torque converter on the c4. Question on the aod, do I have to have any wires connected to the plug?
Drive it like you stole it!!

Make sure to set the TV lever on the AOD to 3/4 or so open. I bolted a piece to the trans pan then welded the lever to that piece of metal....so far so good.

Update, it wasn't the transmission or torque converter. Something with the engine. I will let you know if I find anything else out, tired of problem solving so I am switching the entire power train. Derby in Aberdeen SD this weekend. Drive it like you stole it!!

I'm asking a lot of questions today but it's only because I need to get a lot of job done to one of my car next weekend...
So, for the Ford gurus... Will a stock 80's Crown Vic driveshaft slip yoke could fit a C6 trans? I know I will have to shorten the driveshaft since the AOD is shorter than the C6, but is the AOD slipyoke will fit the C6? If not, is a C4 and C6 share the same output shaft so the slipyoke could be the same?
Thanks!

Ok! So, basically, I will have to look for a drive shaft that was originally on a c6 or is there other drive shaft that could fit? Maybe something that was on a E4OD?

Fmx shares the same size slip yoke as a c-6.
