Some transmission pumps will make noise most often noticed in reverse generally because of some scoring on the pump gears. From all of the bulletins I have read and the ones I have seen come into the shop, its usually just annoying, rarely causes catastrophic failure.

I'm running a 400m/c6 trans in a 80's towncar. What I need help with is the drive shaft yoke is to small for trans yoke. Is there a ujoint that will work and offset the size or will I need a different yoke on drive shaft side?

I have a c6 trans that's stuck in neutral. Shift lever is frozen. Is there anything I can do to free it up without dropping the pan?

I'm looking for some info and opinions. I've always run aod transmissions with varying success. But have the chance to swap over and try an fmx can anyone give me any info as far as pros or cons. Or differences in setup?
Thanks wreckage.

I've burned more fmx transmissions up than I have aods.. I've only smoked one AOD trans.. The input shaft was twisted when I pulled it apart. I'd stick with the AOD. I run an ice cooler but have run then just looped too.

Biggest thing with a aod is make sure the rear tires are stopped before shifting. They are much more sensitive to that than other transmissions. Iv also only ever lost one and it was because I blew a brake drum apart in the heat running a suicude and had to power shift the whole feature.

Or differences in setup? Thanks wreckage. I run an FMX in my lawn mower thing behind a 5.0L, was in a bubble Vic before that. I abused it pretty good in the Vic and it seemed to hold up a lot like a C6, but they're REALLY heavy being a cast iron case. Quite a few 6000 RPM reverse to first shifts and never tore it up. Due to my driving style an AOD usually doesn't make the feature but if you're careful with your shifting I think an AOD would be a better choice

Will the torque converter from and fmx bolt to a 302 fly wheel? Originally had an aod bolted to it.

Does anyone know if the shift patterns of the fmx and c6 are the same or if any other trans has the same shift pattern?
Thanks for any info

Are there different AOD housings and tailshaft splines for the 80's fomocos? I was putting my driveline in and just grabbed a driveshaft and the splines didn't work. The transmission is either from an 85 vic, 87 town car, or 89 grand marq. The driveshaft is out of one of those cars as well. I was always under the impressions that these had the same AODs in them.
