I asked for suggestions not trolling dickheads like you to comment on my shoot. You're the type of person that makes the new guys not want to even give this sport a shot. Someone asks for help, and instead of helping them you give a smartass comment. But why waste money on a new motor when the solution can be way cheaper.

I gave you the solution you just chose to ignore it! I told you to get a multimeter it has multiple uses not just one its a wise purchase not just a one time use for this job!

Did ya get it on the motor?
It sounds like a short somewhere to me, I would think even a FI motor would run a heck of alot longer than 5 mins without an alternator and a fresh battery.

Didn't put it in yet. I'm gonna look and see if I can find an exposed wire, but either way I got a working alternator with hire amperage. So that's a plus.

Heres the modified ford alternator bracket so that a gm one wire alt can be used. I had to file the adjusment slot a bit so the alt would slide freely. Also had to make a spacer thats slides over the lower alt bolt since the mount on the two alts is different from one another, i just used some small thin wall pipe and two washers.

Believe it or not theres two-different sized brackets for alternators... I have so many fords that I just so happen to find this out one day. I leaning towards the 351w or police package cars have a different bracket.

Hmm thanks for the info I didnt know that, iv never messed with the 351 stuff. Do you think that a 351 alt bracket would work without modifying it?

I haven't confirmed that it's only a 351w bracket because I haven't crossed many of them only 2 so far but yes I use GM style 1 wire alts and I have 2 of these larger brackets so i can assume that the 2nd came from the first 351w car I took apart without paying much attention to it... I only discovered the 2nd because I opted to keep the engine in that car and run it as a backup car for a last min derby and when I went to put my alternator on it it bolted right up. Assuming it's for the larger higher output alts.

You can find the bigger alternator brackets on most 8?-91 cop cars and cars with a factory heated windshield. 302 or 351. Not sure what else they came on, but those a good places to start. Easy to recognize once you see one, the alt is bigger and has the external voltage regulator.
