I've never had a problem with a steering box on these fords and I don't run power steering. Biggest thing make sure box is full of fluid then loop the lines. Haven't broken one yet

Well this car was a flop, I will post some updated pics later as I was running out of time before the derby and haven't had time. I lasted about 3 minutes and I had the power wire get ripped out of my ignition switch. I got smoked trying to restart it and the front end is starting to bend up on the passenger side. Also for some reason this 350 engine gets hot pretty fast despite a 4 core radiator and a electric fan going full blast. Also got hit in the passenger tire and it got the crap bent out of the ball joint. Didn't bust but bent bad. I'll get pics up soon.

I remember well in 2012,I got down to 4th and hit a sedagon head on,and power wire came out of distributor…stupid shyt Yeah it definitely sucks man, home town show and it was humiliating. It was the first time I have been out that fast since 2014. I'm usually in the top 5 so that didn't sit too well.

Sucks to hear you didn't do decent at the hometown show but keep at it with the Fords you'll see they can be hard. How was the inner rail on inside of z box? Rusty? , I've found it don't the long to make a ford hard as you see where the bend. I've tried all 3 makes now and I'm still a ford and gm fan. But haven't gave up on Mopar yet.

Alot of locals are putting taco plates in that area to stop it since we are allowed plating

I cant believe that didn't snap either thats pretty impressive. We've had these fords bend weird but honestly haven't ever had one kink there like that so kinda curious as to what might have caused it to bend there like that

I cant believe that didn't snap either thats pretty impressive. We've had these fords bend weird but honestly haven't ever had one kink there like that so kinda curious as to what might have caused it to bend there like that Yeah that ball joint held on for dear life LOL. As to what kinked it I got hit at a angle full track and it puckered it. It must happen pretty frequently because when I inspect derby cars they seem to plated right there where the crush box meets the front frame rail. They call it taco plating.

Pulled the frame down last night Before After, doesn't look like much but the front right frame rail was 2 inches higher than the left. I cut off the old bent bumper and welded on a different one.
