Do you run a stock c6 or a mod c6? Any mod suggestions on the c6?

I have an 82 Crown Vic LTD with the 302. I want to know what transmission is in it. I would look at it myself, but the car is 70 miles away and I won't be able to get back to it for a little while. I'm guessing either C4 or AOD. From what I have seen on Wikipedia (I know it may not be the truth, but it's what I could find) the Crown Vic LTD had the AOD in 1983 and after, but it says nothing about having it in 82. Anyone know production years and what cars the transmissions went into for sure?

Just curiosity and how it would rank in durability vs. the other stuff I have. I have whatever is in this Vic, and then an FMX in the shed. Just wanted an idea of if the trans. in the vic is decent for derby purposes, or if I'm better off finding a small block bell for my FMX.

I hope I dont jinx myself but... My Aod has been through many derbies and hasn't let me down yet. Gotten boiling hot, broke two drive shafts, ripped Trans lines out and out of fluid revving to the sky. Still pulls just fine.. All different derbies... Ran figure 8's and kept smoking fmx's every other race..

Are the output shafts on a c6 and FMX the same diameter and spline count? So a nerat c6 yoke would fit a FMX tailshaft?

Need a little help, had a c4 attached to a 302. The engine ran great and idoled good but when I would shift into gear the car would die. Further investigation showed water in the transmission. I drained the pan and lines and added fresh fluid and still same issue. I swapped out transmissions and put an aod in. Same problem just not as bad. Ran the aod in the derby and broke the tail shaft. Any idea on what could be the problem. This was the third derby on this engine, 2nd on the c4 and aod was fresh. Also ran a tranny cooler. Thank you in advance.

Check that the rear end spins easily. If it's bound it might cause those types of issues.

But I bet it'd still pull if I could get her in gear..
