1970 Mercury Marque 2dr any thoughts tips etc with these rules? Any bumper seam welded and hard nosed, weld upper seam firewall forward, weld down a=arms, swap body bolts, 1" all thread at core support to frame, another floater (1) set of body bolts, hump plates, pre-bend body, cage but nothing down to floor or frame. Ran a '69 stock strip chain an go show many years ago, pretty sure I know where to put the extra body bolts. The frame dumped in front of rear humps, had like 8 inches between frame and body, the rest of the car held up well through 2 derbies 25 years ago against wagons IMP's suisides etc

I just picked up a super clean 72 Lincoln 4 door. Going to be built to DI rules for bonestock. Anyone run one of these before? I heard the nose is hard and the back is soft?

both ends are soft, especially the closer to stock they are. read the rest of the thread.

I ran a 77 Lincoln 4 door built to di rules and the front is not hard. The back did pretty good for me but I would find a different Car to build imo

How about a 1970 Galaxie 500? Not sure of the frame in the front or rear.

just my 2 cents on 69-72 fords for a weld show or promod show they do good as long as you can get the front up with solid suspension and a good front bumper. I wouldn't bother bringing one to a stock show though. jmo

The T-bird up to 66 are good. [ Does this mean 66 t birds are no good? Could get one for a decent price. Most likely a county fair car with Dixon's old school rules.

I'd run it. If they suck then fix it. No one likes them so tech won't know we they are suppose to really look like......

depends on your rules. at my home track we run full weld, allow bumper swaps and solid front suspention etc. and then these ol fords do really good. buddy got 2nd here 2yrs ago in a 69 ltd and it took a 67 IMP to stop it. if it's a chain and bang or a stock show leave the fords for the mod guys cuz it'll be a waste jmo
