Does anyone have any pics of a 74 newport canoe and wedge i have an idea on doing it i just wana see it It's a 78, pretty well the same as a 74. I have no idea what is going to happen with this back end. It might stay down all night and I might be picking up leaf springs off the track after 1 hit... but it's new for me. The last Chrysler I ran I had the attitude that as long as the trunk has althread in it it was fine, since I was going to use the front anyway.

Whats the general opinion of moving the leaf packs under the frame rails and short leafing ? Never have shortened leaf pack, but I would move leafs to rails.

Whats the general opinion of moving the leaf packs under the frame rails and short leafing ? I did it on my 67 polara. Turned out real well. Rolled up to behind the rear shackles and stopped.

My first mopar Tucked, notched, dished(slightly), and short leafed. The rear bumper broke off on one side in the heat so we took it off before the consolation. Didn't start to block my view until a little ways into the feature. The quarter pockets were gone, but the trunk floor was solid. It wasn't rock hard on the back but it wasn't a sponge either.

Ok, I bought this car after somone else already started building it. The welded the trunk solid on it already and pretty much built it to stay straight. My thing is I don't know how comfortable I am with the set up and what to do to fix the problem. I would have probably tucked and notched it but now I am thinking of just flat stacking the leafs, move them to frame rails and canoe the crap out of it. Any thoughts??? I was thinking about notching it, canoeing it and short leafing it then beat the body in where the notch is.

Yes a dish, no need to beat the body in. It'll roll fairly easy at the notch.

yeah if the floor is solid and the lid is already welded I would give it a good canoe job from the bumper to the back seat and skip the notch, just like you described in your first post. With that and the relocated flat stacks it will be ugly when it goes but it will be hard up until then. Chain the humps too.
If the truck floor is cheesy I would do it similar except short leaf it and cut off the back half of the lid, fold the rear corners in, and bolt the remaining lid through the frame. Then it should roll into a ball and harden up from there.

it's been said before but I think optimum rear height is just slightly below level compared to the front. I don't think doing the "bulldog" thing is the ticket for a Mopar.
