I didn't lower mine much at all, just clamped the leafs tight but still ran 15 inch tires. Live and learn!

move perches to the top of axle and put axle under leafs. When we flat stack thats what we do.

If you have a rearend out of a truck, I believe they have the spring perches on top already.

You can't run the stock springs on a y framer or set the ass low them nor shockers and expect them to perform well without the proper welding. Don't put the rearend under the springs either, even with flat leafs it will set it to high.

Ok, I bought this car after somone else already started building it. The welded the trunk solid on it already and pretty much built it to stay straight. My thing is I don't know how comfortable I am with the set up and what to do to fix the problem. I would have probably tucked and notched it but now I am thinking of just flat stacking the leafs, move them to frame rails and canoe the crap out of it. Any thoughts??? IMO if its welded solid v the lid a little good leaf packs it should be hard I wouldn't notch Mine was built the exact way plus some. Notched. Never moved from there. Attachments:

That is how my 9" is from an early 70's bronco. But I took that out from under my diplomat and put in a 68 Newport (what i was told) 8 3/4. The 9 has the perches on the top, while the 8 3/4 has them on the bottom.. I am also running Rancho RS5000's for a 4wd truck as shocks, i have about 1 1/2-2" until they are "bottoming out". Here is how my diplomat was done. The guys I bought it from are the ones who built the trunk. They had also wrapped #9 wire from the axle, through the speaker deck, and to the roof. I know it was previously mentioned about removing the rear bumper, but on this, I will for sure....Sat back and looked at it once and noticed the odd angle, and when I play it out in my head, I can see it getting bent into a Z shape. This has the stock leafs, with the mounts bolted and welded to the subframe, and will have 7.00-15's. Plus the previous owners welded everything....including the sheet metal rear bumper to the shocks, the shocks to themselves, and the shocks to the body. One swing with a 10 lbs. sledge and the bumper started to V in. Car has not been run yet, but I will for sure get afters...

I would but they welded EVERYTHING lol they had even welded the rad to the core support a little so I had to grind it off. I looked up underneath the other night and they had it welded every where they could. I'm just hoping that the way the trunk is built it will do anything except go down

if it was mine, I'd grab a torch and notch it just ahead of the bumper shocks. Should be able to do it well enough from underneath that you can be confident it will go up instead of down, especially the way it is wedged already. It will be ok. Could go a step further and pre-bend it by laying a chain across the notches and jack up on the bumper.
