Not sure if I ever got to post here but 2 years ago I used this forum to build my first sunfire, had 2 runs of terrible luck. First run fuel line popped off inside take and 2nd run the lawn mower wheels I used sat rear way to low and just kept getting stuck in mud. Third run I went tow to tow with seriously built w bodies and camrys and held my own. I compiled a list of things I learned using this group and some stuff discovered on the way, hope it helps someone
Weld washers to strut where knuckle mounts
Weld all thread down shock towers for hood support and brace shock towers
Add 2x2 tubing from k frame to core support
Run all thread down core support through 2x2 tubing to use as 2 more hood supports
Hard nose a solid bumper to the front
Weld something across k frame from drivers side to passenger
Bolt sway bar straight to a arm
Add plates to where frame gets thin and right under headlight bucket over crush point
Weld over the oval holes on rear axles using plate to lock suspension into location
Add a solid cage to car with window bar, weld angle to halo to bolt to roof, this helps hold rear together with rear window bar
I dished my trunk and added a notch which didn't work out first 2 runs but third it all came together
9 wire c pillars together as my sunfire was a 2 door
I would like to know I'd anyone cane up with a way to prevent trans case from cracking? My frame rail bent into my trans cracking the case but hasn't seen anything on how to prevent it
