Looking for some tips for a Chevy hhr I know the hhr isn’t a cavalier but it is a cobalt built off the Chevy delta platform. Couldn’t find a cobalt thread just the cavalier thread. Are the panel versions better than the window versions? The following is not my photo both taken/ran Just a photo taken at a local show 15 mins from my house. Anyone have good luck with them? Anyone prefer a specific engine over the other that comes in these wagons? Anyone have pics of the subframe on these?

Picking up an 87 cavalier wagon with the 2.0 in it,looking to build a compact out of it..should I ditch the 2.0 for like a 2.2/2.4? What are the weak points? I need a ton of info if anyone has ever built one and wants to spread the knowledge. I’d hate to waste this thing on a stock class but if it isn’t worth building I guess I will lol

So just read all pages full of tips on these cars, building my first sunfire, 03 i think. Had 2 questions, i wanna remove some wires but was sure if i could unplug the in car wiring from the connector on the driver side, i know fuel pump runs off it but i wanna run pump off a toggle, if not ill just coil wire up lol second what are best tires to run on these cars? Im gonna tab the cups, brace struts, put angle on strut to shorten for strut to bend, run 1x1 accross k frame, run 1x1 from.k member to core support. Angle on top and bottom of core support with all thread all the way through, gonna weld all thread to shock towers in front for my rear hood tie down locations. Rear im gonna dish to floor, push spare tire hump up, notch and pre bend frame, rear window bar from roof to speaker deck, brace rear struts and gussets the rear axle. Temp sensor trick is on the list as well lol

Believe its an 03, its the final body style of the sunfire. I haven't gotten a toggle hooked up to fuel pump to try it just yet but it looks like 2 plugs, a larger plug and a smaller plug and it feeds everything in the car from thr xm radio to the fuel pump to the defroster. Also off topic have u every swapped cv axles out? Looking at the set for my century and i think i can swap strut, knuckle and axle but the tri pod bearings are different enough to prevent thr cups from swapping.

Put a "protector" all the way back to the rear floor trust me it is great once the truck gets to that point. Put a 7x16 x 3/16 gussett on the rad support also on both sides

Also if you really want to be nasty put kickers on the frame to the dash bar. 5-14 tractor tires work great and 23x8.50x14 skids are good too. Put washers behind your axles also unless you already mentioned that. Put hump plates on the rear I use 1/4x2 1/2 flat bar. 1/4 bolts on all the seams. Run a bolt and big washer up through the floor on the rear on both sides it is where the rear attaches to the rear of the rockers. You can also put a plate inside the trunk on both sides and weld truck shut and never even see them. Also make all thread rear struts I use 1 inch b7 rod and square tube.

So I have a question about compact bumpers. I have a 2007 cobalt with a 2.2 ecotec that I plan to run in a bone stock compact derby. I have done the best I could to prepare the front, move some wiring, zip ties the computer components to the engine out of the way, Unplugged the coolant temp sensor and got another plugged it in to the new one and zip tied it away to help prevent mode limp mode. But being as it’s a bone stock derby I’m limited, no welding other than drivers door and cage, limited on bumpers, but can chain/9wire hood in 4 spots... The factory bumper has a decent curve but doesn’t seem very strong and I think the car’s main weakness is the front aluminum spindles. So is there any bumper that is stronger/longer that would be easy to bolt on or could drill out and bolt on to help protect against tire shots?? Figured it’d be best to ask on this thread because a cobalt is what GM went to after cavaliers. Attachments:
