Sheet metal is over rated. Get her up high enough to see underneath. And I'm sure I don't need to tell you to give a good inspection around the front shock towers. If it's crap there or underneath, pull your parts & let 'er rot.
Or buy it, pull your parts & scrap the rest.

Save it for a 5ft class. Rusty don't matter then. LOL

looks like you might have a good front clip there. whats that sitting behind it? I think the green car was a 70's t bird. He had quite a few fox body mustangs, 2 pintos, 3-4 Chevettes and some random year W bodies. It's hard to say how much for any one car because I straight up asked how much for a pinto and e said 650-750. No thanks

My gremlin this year is getting either a 350 or a 302. If you don't want to make junk, maximize rules and learn to effectively bag. As for me, I will make junk.

I ran a 283 SBC once on clay/mud. If you don't run some kind of stall it's like driving with pizza cutters for rear tires. You're all over the place. Now I just run a 2.5

Anyone got a pic of the joint on the rac that needs to replaced There is no rack on these. It's made of rubber an is on the column just a couple inches from the gear. It's called a "rag joint"

^^^^^^When the car bends, that rag joint rips, leaving you without steering. Double u-joint shaft out of an Astro, or compact 80's Jeep works nicely with minimal mods. Both have the correct splines to mate up to the AMC steering gear. On many cars, the rag joint is not a problem. On these, it is.

Which would yall run in a all weld class we can wells everything solid ? I would pick the pacer over the gremlin, but both can be tough (if built right). The pacer is considered as the (big brother) to the gremlin.
