Take a hard hit in the door and bend the cage Run thicker cage bars (square or round) and gusset everywhere you can. Not trying to insult but a good cage shouldn’t bend, the car yes but not the cage. My cage is hard 4+4 1/4 inch I was trying to tell good cage won't bend if you are scared to trust it its not good enough

That’s the truth, if there is one thing to spend time on and use good material it would be the cage

So once i get to it, I'm thinking of wiring from the cross member up to my center bar of the cage, would this be good idea or would it be better to wire from cross member around the dash bar or back bar?

I've thought about doing this as well, wasn't sure on how much more strength it adds. Prob worth giving a shot.. good luck 👍

We do ours to dash bar. Crossmember wants to push back and bend with pressure without it. It's not gonna stop it entirely but every little bit helps

I would do it from cage to frame right behind front driver and passenger doors, it helps somewhat to slow it down when it goes to dump. Unless your running tranny brace and cradle I personally would stay away from cross member and pressure from wire, chain, or whatever. Your just asking for cracked Bell housings on tranny’s. This is all just my opinion though

All appreciated, was throwing that idea around too, the fact it may be hard on motor, I’m allowed 8 spots of wire inside car, so the places u said will be addressed, I’m allowed a down bar to frame per side so that will be 10 inches behind firewall, pretty much at door seem like you said.

If your allowed a gas tank protector I’d wire it in good to the package tray to, or better yet all thread it in like body bolts if that’ll fly. If it can touch sheet metal.

I could definitely see the benefits but it’s a lot of work to stick a 60 inch piece of 6 inch rectangle tube through a couple doors. Must’ve missed this but it doesn’t take as much work or time as you’d think. First time yes but once you do it once it’s not bad. Mark everything first that needs cut out and you can literally lay your side pieces in and they hold themselves in place as you weld them in, then just build the rest of your cage off of the side bars.

True true, and the gas tank protector can be against the package trey but can’t be attached

Stripping the car is done, took the full cradle off the motor, will be putting a lower with a front plate and pulley protector on it next but will be changing the oil pan first, nothing wrong with it besides the fact it doesn’t have a drain plug. Started working on the rear end, put the axle savers on, next will be the pinion brake, I love the way the axle savers look and how they go on, FTM derby products built them, they are split so all you have to do unbolt, put one half on them put the second half on and bolt together, you weld the backing plate to the housing but that’s it, the rest can unbolt to change angles and what not. What do you guys think about the axle savers?
