So we over here at Team FTS have really enjoyed the couple recent build threads and so I decided that I would do one. Being that the last couple have been metric fords i’d like to switch it up. So the fact that we have a 76 caddy in the shop and we haven’t built one I figured it would be a good candidate. Let me know what you guys think, any comments are welcomed, hope everyone enjoys it as much as I will. That being said, enough talk! This is how she started out, a big old yellow turd lacking a passenger side mirror and a flat driver side tire. After a couple solid days of work this is how she sits now, motor is almost ready to come out, we will be busy the next 3 weekends so not much will get done Post #1

So we were changing the breaks on the truck and doing some small things to get ready for next weekend and I figured i’d screw around and at least get her sitting on some derby tires I also thought it would be fun to set the headers and a window bar that we had laying around on just for fun. Post #2

So I was just looking at how the g body a arms were going to look and see what I thought. Give me some feed back on how they look and how you guys think they will do. They aren’t where they need to be, just sitting on top of the factory a arms. Post #3

There was about 2 or 3 that ran blizzard bash year ago i dont know about this year with g body a arms on them. Seem to of done fine. But look at the dip on a 1970s an older gm if your looking for more height.

Ya there’s several options out there that have a good dip in them. Used and seen lots of guys use the g bodies on new style fords, just hard pressed to find on old iron but yes I have seen them on caddies at blizzard and around here too.

FULL SIZED METRIC A ARMS HAVE A DROPPED BALLJOINT, WHEREAS THE 71 TO 76 OLD IRON DOES NOT... WOULDNT USE G BODY ANYHING ON THEM...TOO THIN....

70s Lincoln control arms will give you some height if I recall correctly. I believe you need to use the Lincoln spindles as well.

Ok thanks guys, i might be able to reinforce a little but we’ll see, if it doesn’t go well with this one we’ll use the 70’s Lincoln’s style on the other 2

Take 2 and trim edges down and weld together. That will help the being to thin

way easier to just pull the bottom nuts off the motor mounts then the way you did it cause now you still have to do it. remember for next time

Yup, two 3/4 nuts in the frame. And they are easy to get to.
