I use 1 battery to run my heat and change it out with a fresh one for the next heat. Put 2 of my Batteries on the charge the night before the derby. Get to the shop to load up car would not start. Had a buddy use his car to push mine on the trailer and get to the show an hour away. I keep changing Dist. and cranking on the engine. Guy walks up to see whats wrong and noticed I had the battery backwards. Drop another dist in and change the battery cables around and go to the heat and the battery dies halfway into the heat 1 spot from the main.Go to the pits put the fresh battery in and fires right up. I now spray paint the POS side of the battery so when I get in a hurry I dont cross the wires and fry the dist.

Poorly routed spark plug wire caught on fire.. First time it caught on fire I should have gotten out to see what it was and just pulled it off the header and kept going. Caught on fire again 30 seconds later and I was out.

I've got a whole list of these things lol. Starter wire fell off once. I've broke a dist cap when it was down to 3. Backed up on a dead car when it was down to 2. Many more lol

Used a standard bolt to mount the starter once, bolt broke trying to pull onto the track. Friend used a pry bar to hold it and get it started. Got onto the track put it in gear and it died obviously could not restart. Everything is grade 8 now.

Last year, took my diplomat up to the nearest show, car was welded more than you can weld a diplomat. I showed up to run full weld, signed the paper blah blah blah, rolled up to tech, they noticed my doors were welded 5 on 5 off and no protectors. so they let me run stock class. Did really good, 3/4 tracked a guy, lost my trans....or so I thought. The night and about 25 keystones before the derby we either forgot to tighten the big bolt that holds the leafs to the bracket, or we just didn't put the nut on the bolt....smh. Got 3rd. But easily could have won.

Never break the stick till the officials make you lol avoid eye contact as long as possible.
