Try heating and pounding rather than slicing or notching. My experience is that the rails tear or will Z horizontally if left too weak. I've only dimpled once on a gm and I didn't like it. Thats why I beat the sides of the rail in so once they touch it stops moving there. What you showed a picture of is a cut. I would not cut anything..

a really heavy dimple for a wagon. If you cut, bend it and then weld it. The times I cut, the frame tore and Z'd

I dimpled one GM and it ripped out the seam when it bent. So I just prefer to notch. Could of just been a shity factory weld. I'll try it again one day especially if I can seam weld

might be 102 out but I'm building any day I'm free. I went with this to fix it plate placement so its ready for the next set to go on after Irun and bend it.

did you cold bend before welding down bar to frame? No. I only do so on my fords so I can bend the hole middle section vs others just like to jack in one place. This car may not be cold bent till after atleast the heat. Just my preference.
