JoJo Davis said:In TBTC can I take a bumper shock and go through the frame and come out within the first 13"? Basically hardnose, cut the side of the frame open, weld a bumper shock down the side/inserted/welded the fuch up and just make sure it doesn't go to the top side of the frame and is within 13"?
No If you use a bracket they must be on outside of the frame if you use a shock on the inside of frame they must remain inside of the frame.
I'm confused by this, according to the hard copy of the TBTC 2018 rules that I printed off on October 13th, The rules state that we are not allowed to manipulate the bumper bracket/ bumper shock rule correct..?...yet the guy above asked if he could run his bumper shock straight thru the frame and exit the side of the frame and welded, not exceeding the 13" rule, which is NOT manipulating but simply following what the rules state..but yet you are stating that the bumper shock must remain inside the frame..?...and we all know that in order to achieve that you must shape the bumper shock to fit the contour of the frame a-arm forward, which is a direct violation of the rules because now you've manipulated the shock. This also applies to the bumper bracket rules, be cause we all know that in order to achieve the 13" mark the bracket will need contoured to the frame which again is in violation of the rules because you have manipulated the bracket...your bumper bracket/ shock rule is SOOO wide open for interpretation that nobody is gonna get it right and please do not use the excuse that we should've called first for clarification, because they should've been clarified when originally wrote. As long as the bumper bracket/shock doesn't exceed the 13" mark and isn't attached to the top of the frame or bottom, then why in the hell should it matter...why don't you guys make it much easier on yourselves and the builders and just give everyone a 13"x5"x1/4 plate and be done with it. I for see a lot of arguing and pissed off people in the future Inspection line..oh and one more thing, since you state that the bumper shock needs to be inside the frame and welded(as per the rule) are you giving us permission to cut the top of the frame off a-arm forward so we can place the contoured bumper shock inside and weld it then reweld the top of the frame a-arm forward back on..?? cause your gonna have 32 variations or will we need to wait and see what variation your "A list" drivers are allowed and everyone else gets the "cut it off" answer.

Sorry it took so long to respond to you I took a few days off for myself. I answered this question 10 times before JoJo asked this on here and I always answered the same way. A factory bumper shock on a car without a bracket is always on the inside of the frame and a bumper bracket are always on the outside of the frame. That's the way I have answered the question. Now looking back on it I should have just went with a 4" X 13" X 3/8" plate for the bumper bracket but I can't change that now. On cars with bumper brackets you can pull them to the frame and weld them you can not bend them over the top or bottom of the frame or use 2 brackets to make 1. I do apologize for the confusion for you and I will say that 90% of the complaining in the inspection line about having to fix things will be from from the drivers reading more into a rule than there is. I will tell you 2 things about me if we have never met 1. I do not have an A list of drivers on derby day all drivers are the same derby drivers. and 2 I don't have a do this because I said attitude I am open to discussion from drivers on there interpretation on the rules but I don't want to hear arguing from anyone we need to treat everyone with respect. Ask anyone that knows me I'm not hard to get along with I have no ego but I do have conviction on my thoughts and nobody will change that.

To all Bash for cash drivers We here at Smash it wants to first thank all of you for your continued support for this awesome show. We greatly appreciate it and it helps keeping the show growing from year to year. The inspection times are listed below if you miss your time we will make some time on Sunday to finish up. On Saturday night if you are running a filler class on Sunday we will inspect cars after 9:30 PM until we close the inspection building around midnight for other classes. Be careful in your travels to the show we want you all to make the trip safely. This year we are imposing a golf cart only rule no ATV’s side by sides and so on will be allowed. Just remember, golf cart users be courteous and careful, so we don’t have to ban these also. Drivers get their weekend pass with their entry all you must do is check in with your derby car at the gate and your pass will be given to you at that time. The following is the agenda for the weekend. For this year as you come down fairgrounds road the first gate will be for general admission and all campers must use this gate. If you are towing a derby car keep driving down the road to the last gate and that will be the entrance for all derby cars. We can’t wait to see all of you for the 2018 show. For the DEC headers compact class, derbytees.com TBTC class and the Nerat / Big rock kicker class after the heat you will get 4 fix it plates. These plates must be purchased from us at the event this is to cover the cost of the plates only. If you sent in your entry and did not put your shirt size on it please let me know your size by April 15th so I can order them send me an e mail at russ@smashitderby.com or send a message on face book include your name and what class your running if I don’t get your shirt size you will get an extra-large.
