What if the cluster got thrown away months ago? I just came across that in a thread. Is there no way to hot wire it?

Get yourself a CAT or Yarder battery, just junk the alternator never had an issue with not having enough power. Drove it up to our local parade, started it multiple times during the parade ran a heat and a main and still had over an 80% charge on the battery.

I have an 89 ford f150 fuel injected. I cut all the wires in the interior. Will this be a problem when try and get it running? Or can someone point me in a direction that will help. First time running a truck

First time running a truck yep.. your screwed,,,, ya need that wire to run the motor,, now you have to find the wires to power up the computer and ign. system,, ...........lenny

Just found out when you take cluster out alternator doesn't charge. 85 grand marquis with external regultor. Which wire turns on the alterntor

I e been hunting an answer to this question for awhile. I did a lot of research in it today and I went ahead and hooked the green with red stripe to power and grounded the voltage regulator. Gonna try tomorrow and make sure its charging.

Sparks did you get it charging? Seems to be no wires went up in flames lol and it'll stay running now with the battery unhooked.

Check it with a multimeter and make sure you are not over charging. A battery explosion is not a fun thing.
