Kyle, I was not in attendance, however I saw videos of each heat and I must say it was one of the better derbies SBMS has had in awhile. Congrats. August will be even better. Hopefully this show will become an annual thing!!

First time going and I was unimpressed with car count. This was put on to supposedly rank with Bash and Mayhem, but was nowhere close. Pit price was steep for the little derby action there was as well as the low full size car count. Rules seemed inconsistent and letting those who arrived late run did not seem right. Get there on time. Full size was suppose to be "stock" but they then let a car with body creasing run without a second look. Would have loved to see the old iron battle it out instead of getting stuck as well, but lesson learned. Reminded me of just another county fair show and nothing more. Actually a county fair show has more cars. I don't know who told you a 1 day derby would be comparable to any 2 day derby, but I wouldn't believe that myself. Pit price has always been that much, don't know why. I don't recall seeing any creased full size, what car number was it? They were saying a wreck on the highway caused cars to be late, but I agree, the pits opened at 12 noon, you couldn't get there until 615 or 630? And yes, they did learn their lesson and the derby will be back on the asphalt in august, it was the 1st ever in the dirt and it was too soft. Thanks for your input!!

Hopefully this show will become an annual thing!! Thanks buddy! If it was good on video, live is always better, I think august will be way better and back on the asphalt!!! It was awesome to see all the old iron back at the track.

I do not remember the number, but it was one of the late cars. Upper quarters were creased and trunk was cut half way and dished in. Not bashing the event, just not what I anticipated it to be. Was the first time seeing trailer races...wow!

Here is my take on the show: 1. too many chiefs not enough Indians. I went through tech and passed. asked the head tech guy if I could torch 2 holes in my hood for wire. He says, "sure I don't see why not". Then I get some billy bad ass in a red shirt jump down my throat when the torches come out. Tells me the guy in tech doesn't have a clue and he is the one running the show. Now I have to go back through inspection to get re teched. Should be 1 guy in charge of the show, not one for tech, and one for running the derby. And definitely don't talk like that about another worker at the track.... 2. Wayyyyy to much time between heats. Instead of taking the cars from the infield track all the way to the drivers trailer, they should have towed the cars out of the infield onto the asphalt track. When the next derby is starting the same tow trucks could take them back to the cars. That would have saved at least an hour of the show. 3. Too many big cars in that small track. Would have been better to take the compacts from 4 heats to 2 heats, and split the big cars. Take top 4 or 5 from both compact and full size heats that gives you 8-10 cars in the main. Plenty of room to move around and maybe hit someone. 4. Sandbagging didn't change too much. Seemed to me that there was a lot of sandbagging. Heat 1 of the minis was a perfect example. One of the qualifiers (I won't say what #) drove around for over 6 minutes with a single hit made by him. It was hard to watch and the crowd was definitely not happy. there were a few cars in the full size that did the same things. I realize it happens at every derby, but they made a point to say there would be NONE. Seems like the track officials didn't really know what to do. JMO. 5. Lots of nice old Iron Pretty good turn out for the full size class compared to the last few derbies. Lots of decent old iron out there. That was nice to see. 6. Track sucked I think the track size was fine, but a lot of guys buried themselves fairly easily. Felt like sand out there. 7. Trailer races continue to drive the crowd numbers Trailer race was the best part honestly. Great action and something that gets a lot of drivers. Everything just looked pretty unorganized and not very well thought out. I prefer the derby on the asphalt, but didn't mind the pit. For the love of god, please get 1 guy that runs the show! Thanks for the input!! I will try to explain some of the issues 1. As many as we could, we told to do anything in impound area they needed to, some went to their trailers, we might have missed some, and the ones that came back through because of that we just waved them through and told them to make sure they went to impound, should be better next time, impound will be in a different spot, There is just one guy in charge 2. Agreed, this is the 1st one they did in the infield and the tow vehicles aren't used to it, I agree they needed to pull them out of the track and start the next heat 3. He didn't want to split the big cars because of paying out to 20th place, he wanted 20 cars for a feature, kinda hard to do with 17 entered, see your point though 4. There is always going to be some sandbagging, especially with bigger payouts, but I didn't think it was that bad, compared to some of the other derbies I have been to 5. Agreed, lots of nice old iron, love to see them at that track again 6. Track was soft in alot of spots, it was literally made in like 3 days and should have had some clay brought in for it and they were going to but it seemed hard enough, it wasnt, our fault 7. The crowd does love the trailer races alot And on your I will say #8, it is an all new crew and a little unorganized yes, and it WILL be back on the ASPHALT in august!!! I wasn't talking about tech. I thought tech was pretty smooth and had their shit together. It was the guy running the drivers meeting that didn't have a clue. He wants to look important, not run a show. He threw the tech crew straight under the bus, doesn't make things look organized. Thanks for the answers though. Its always nice to get some insight.

Thanks for that, I am one of the guys in the tech crew, but everyone is pretty new, give it time, I think the one in August will be HUGE, when we release the payouts, I think a lot more people will give us a look, all 3 derby classes are making a good size jump in payouts, watch for it to be posted hopefully next week and hope you come back and wreck some more metal with us at the Big Bend 2

Any chance off working on these rules? I think this rule package is the hold back of this show. i under stand trying a stock show but it didn't work so lets move on and try some other local rule packages. The goal is numbers. you have great payouts and good location. looking forward to seeing this show be a success. i have never ran here but have watched a few. i dont own a rearend without a brace and will not spend $200 on a bumper and not load it. this sport is expensive enough i dont need to waste money on a broken rearend and hard to find bumpers. The cars are hard enough to buy. Just my 2 centz good luck thanks for reading.

I run a lot of derby shark shows and would probably head up that way with a couple compacts if the rules were opened up a little more especially for that amount of money.
