Here is my take on the show:
1. too many chiefs not enough Indians. I went through tech and passed. asked the head tech guy if I could torch 2 holes in my hood for wire. He says, "sure I don't see why not". Then I get some billy bad ass in a red shirt jump down my throat when the torches come out. Tells me the guy in tech doesn't have a clue and he is the one running the show. Now I have to go back through inspection to get re teched. Should be 1 guy in charge of the show, not one for tech, and one for running the derby. And definitely don't talk like that about another worker at the track....
2. Wayyyyy to much time between heats. Instead of taking the cars from the infield track all the way to the drivers trailer, they should have towed the cars out of the infield onto the asphalt track. When the next derby is starting the same tow trucks could take them back to the cars. That would have saved at least an hour of the show.
3. Too many big cars in that small track. Would have been better to take the compacts from 4 heats to 2 heats, and split the big cars. Take top 4 or 5 from both compact and full size heats that gives you 8-10 cars in the main. Plenty of room to move around and maybe hit someone.
4. Sandbagging didn't change too much. Seemed to me that there was a lot of sandbagging. Heat 1 of the minis was a perfect example. One of the qualifiers (I won't say what #) drove around for over 6 minutes with a single hit made by him. It was hard to watch and the crowd was definitely not happy. there were a few cars in the full size that did the same things. I realize it happens at every derby, but they made a point to say there would be NONE. Seems like the track officials didn't really know what to do. JMO.
5. Lots of nice old Iron Pretty good turn out for the full size class compared to the last few derbies. Lots of decent old iron out there. That was nice to see.
6. Track sucked I think the track size was fine, but a lot of guys buried themselves fairly easily. Felt like sand out there.
7. Trailer races continue to drive the crowd numbers Trailer race was the best part honestly. Great action and something that gets a lot of drivers.
Everything just looked pretty unorganized and not very well thought out. I prefer the derby on the asphalt, but didn't mind the pit.
For the love of god, please get 1 guy that runs the show!

Thanks for the input!! I will try to explain some of the issues 1. As many as we could, we told to do anything in impound area they needed to, some went to their trailers, we might have missed some, and the ones that came back through because of that we just waved them through and told them to make sure they went to impound, should be better next time, impound will be in a different spot, There is just one guy in charge 2. Agreed, this is the 1st one they did in the infield and the tow vehicles aren't used to it, I agree they needed to pull them out of the track and start the next heat 3. He didn't want to split the big cars because of paying out to 20th place, he wanted 20 cars for a feature, kinda hard to do with 17 entered, see your point though 4. There is always going to be some sandbagging, especially with bigger payouts, but I didn't think it was that bad, compared to some of the other derbies I have been to 5. Agreed, lots of nice old iron, love to see them at that track again 6. Track was soft in alot of spots, it was literally made in like 3 days and should have had some clay brought in for it and they were going to but it seemed hard enough, it wasnt, our fault 7. The crowd does love the trailer races alot And on your I will say #8, it is an all new crew and a little unorganized yes, and it WILL be back on the ASPHALT in august!!!

First time going and I was unimpressed with car count. This was put on to supposedly rank with Bash and Mayhem, but was nowhere close. Pit price was steep for the little derby action there was as well as the low full size car count. Rules seemed inconsistent and letting those who arrived late run did not seem right. Get there on time. Full size was suppose to be "stock" but they then let a car with body creasing run without a second look. Would have loved to see the old iron battle it out instead of getting stuck as well, but lesson learned.
Reminded me of just another county fair show and nothing more. Actually a county fair show has more cars.
