I was referring to a county fair show they promoted this fall. To my knowledge there wasn't a single compact that had to cut anything out of roughly 20 cars. The W body that won had 1/8th inch diamond plate for door skins and 1 1/2in allthread for rear struts that went up through the floor and trunk lid. He battled for probably 10 minutes against two very well built pacers and his car looked the same as when he drove on the track. boom61 i don't want to be disrespectful but the fwd guys have feared the rwd guys in compacts for many years. Our hometown fair promoted by Smash It banned rwd 3 years ago because the only cars winning were amc's and mustangs.we fwd guys have spent alot of time and effort figuring out how to keep axles in,rear ends under our cars and how to keep a fuel injected motor running when it gets hot. it has taken 5 years and alot of cars to figure this out. i feel the rwd had the advantage in the beginning because you were able to use all things from big cars and can't appriciate the work and engineering we put in these fwd cars.

I'm going to quietly mention this again. Since this show is now going to be even "bigger" than last year. I desperately hope something is going to be done for seating. If people are allowed to show up and tape off / claim as many pit seats as they want.... Then I may just have to come up on Wednesday and mark off every single seat in the pits and say they are for me and my friends? See my point? Yes. Please address this.
*I would gladly pay extra money to buy a reserved pit seat.

X2!!! drove 8 hours last year to watch "the best" derby in the nation and could only see about half the action maybe at tops. I was actually hoping they would have moved the event to a venue with more and higher seating so people could see the whole track from every seat. Had a good time, don't get me wrong, just thought the seating lacked for the majority of the crowd.

Yes exactly. A LOT of people suggested moving to a different location with better seating, but not sure why that didn't happen when this event is definitely going to gain larger crowds.

This event will not be moving this year ppl are already reserving hotel rooms and renting campers for W.C. venue. Seating is an issue dont get me wrong but like any other infield derby get there early mark your seat. If you mark off seats plant your ass in them come derby time or dont get pissed when they are gone and your blankets are on the ground cuz you aint been there all day. I personally dont care cuz i stand to watch anywhere I watch a derby. I am sure when and if Tim and the gang decides to move this event he will promptly let everyone know. JMO

There are a lot of things in play with an event of this size, it's not as easy as just moving it. There has to be enough room on the grounds itself, (pits, camping, etc.) there has to be plenty of hotels reasonably close, there has to be places to eat, (other than a $3.00 hot dog) and it needs to be reasonably located for people traveling and probably some stuff I'm forgetting.
There may be a better place, I don't know, but what they have now seems to meet a lot of the requirements. Every year things are tweaked to improve the show, if need be I'm sure seating will be one of those things.

I seen several people on saturday around 7-8am taping off seats, and later that day when the derby was going on they never showed up for the first 3 heats. I went over ripped there blanket up thrown it away, and I sat down.

Just some food for thought on on the compact rules. Let me put it this way take kickers away from a crown vic(rwd compact) and run it with imperials (w body's), probably gonna get junked. And remember compact guys dont have the option readily available for a cradle and a dp to help hold the front end down. But now if u let them have kickers it evens things out a little. Ive built many w bodys and never used kickers u dont need them. But a rwd needs kickers or it will be junk in a run or 2. So now ive got to buy or build a cradle and dp and use it to hold the front end down and risk junk in a good motor to stay competitive.
