Nephew ran an 80s caddi tilted at crossmember. Only about 7 inches frome core support to frame. Car was pretty hard up front but ended up going at the fire wall. Won the derby it was in and getting pulled back down and plated and ran again.

Does anyone have any tips on tilting a 76 monte? Where to tilt, how much to tilt? How much frame welding are you allowed? Can you run a plate from the bumper to the a-arms?

12 inches of repair per frame rail, frame seams welded fire wall forward, extra body bolt on each side, 14 inch bumper brackets. Frame repair must be 2 inches from bumper brackets. And idk if it makes a difference but 4x6 tubing bumpers with points are allowed.

Do you have any finished car or afters of this car? I built an 80s metric wagon and tilted it same way it's held up great. Didn't run too heavy or too pointy of a bumper after five runs its only kinked up behind passenger side core support mount. And that was from an awkward angled shot I put on a concrete barrier lol

I would try and tilt the frame down up front where the rails go up and out... cut frame off and use the hole in the center of frame for your core support mount. Not sure on distance what you will be able to cover but this is the weak spot on the front. Firewall area is pretty good they have less angle on them then other gm...

Trying my luck at tilting a 73 Catalina this year. I was told to tilt it 3". What's the usual tilt people put on them. I drive a lot with the front of the car. hard. lol Also, just to make sure, when I go to tilt the frame, do I measure at the front bumper while pulling it down?? Where do you measure? Think I'm going to tie it down on the trailer at the front bumper, and jack up on the frame at the firewall mounts.

Also, something was said about using a portapower to push from firewall to front bumper. I'm assuming this is to try and straighten the 's' out more?? So you would do this AFTER tilting??
