I run the 80's two bolt box with the newer style pitman arm, centerlink, and idler arm. U can just put the new style arm on the old box and keep the rest. The newer idler arms are much thicker and also the newer centerlink is much straighter. To me it looks stronger too. Jmo.

Some box vic gear boxes also bolt from the bottom. You could just look around for the right gearbox and not have to change pitman arms.

Im sure alot of you know this but I have just found this out. I have a 96 vic and im switching out the steering box to an 80s ford steering box because the box fords have better steering boxs, the pitman arms are different the 96 bolts to the draglink on the bottom and 80s box bolts on the top and the hole in the draglink on 96 vic steering will not fit. Should I A. Drill the hole out bigger to fit B. Change the steering linkage assembly to the 80s box style I'm sorry! love the avatar!

Only thing with running newer style straighter drag link is that you have to run the newer tie rods too Or aftermarket.

i tried to make my own brake set up with the pedal and master cylinder mounted inside the car on an 85 sq. body. i used the stock master cylinder off of like a 1990 sq. body and hardly had any brakes at all. i ran both rear brakes and front left and the system was full of fluid and was bled correctly. the rod that the pedal pushed in the master cylinder was able to fully push in the piston on the cylinder. someone told me my folkrem point was probably too far away from the master cylinder (like 4-5 inches and they said it should be 1-2 inches) and i know the master cylinder worked because it was used up until we took it off the other car. someone else said i need a master cylinder with a bigger diameter piston? help please thank you

thanks leadfoot455 but what is that for a master cylinder? i have seen a few guys with similar ones. Its just a manual master cylinder I ordered. U can pick them up off earlier ford cars from O'Reilly for about $18 refurbished and then the line for about $12. I used the stock pedal and everything. Works great. You can buy them on eBay too. Just type in manual master cylinder.

On my 91merc the master cylinder has two lines on the inside for front and back and a bleeder on the other side. Question is cn I plug the two originals and put line where the original bleeder was
