I have a steel bell housing and just built a protector for it. so basically all i need is a longer pilot bearing

Just don't drive the original in as far and you will be fine

It a saginaw i think its a 3 ring if important looking at things right, first time really messing with them. it has a multi hole steel bell housing. important going to be running a 283 this year and want to be able to control my rpm a little more. hopefully the 5.83 gears with a 3 speed won't kill me.

You will be very low geared if you have a 3 ring and that low of a gear. Might wanna invest in a 3:73 or 4:10 gear. That is what I run with my 3 ring 3 speed.

so your saying that all you have to do is put a longer pilot bearing in and thats it? i have a big rock extreme setup with a 1/2'' mid plate and that wont affect how the clutch works?

you guys run a 10.5" clutch? what kind of car do you tell them you want it for? im liking the warranty idea.

If you have the large truck bell it makes more sense to use the largest clutch disc and plate. I use a 12 inch In the truck bells and also in my top load NV1500. If you have only the car bell then a 10.5 is the biggest you can fit I think. 115 bucks for ZOOM replacements, 30 dollars cheaper for the big disc in my area vs the car size disc. Fresh cut on the flywheel and you'll be good to go.

Ive been looking and havent really found what I'm looking for yet. I'm planning on switching from a hydraulic setup to running a cable. my question is what type of heavy duty cables are people running? i plan on building my own floor mounted pedal but dont want to use a weak cable thats going to break half way through a show. thanks for and info you may share

Best bet if you want to save some effort is to go to a junk yard and find a compact car that uses a cable clutch release and get one that will work for you or at least find the appropriate model and type you need ( length diameter etc ) and purchase a new one. The fox body mustangs had a decent setup if you can build in an adjustable quadrant ( adjuster ). JMO

Can't remember the exact part number, but it is threaded on both ends and is roughly 7-8' long. The cable is more than enough. I run a BRP extreme with my 3 speed Saginaw. I run a Howe hydraulic throwout bearing. I run one of the extended pilot bearings.

I was wondering why everybody runs 3 speeds instead of 4 speeds. Is it price availability durability or gear ratios? I was also wondering if i would be ok with a 3 groove saginaw and 4:10 rear end gears. Are muncies really better than saginaws?I have never run one before but i just got a good deal on ma clutch setup and think i will try it. any input on ideal setup would be appreciated. Thanks

Three speeds have reverse and 1st gear on the same shifter link. Push forward and you go forward, pull back and you go backwards. It's as simple as that
