It doesn't have to be oem, but since a junkyard is my sponsor I can get them there for free,, and free is good but I'm not totally opposed to the idea of eBay I'll check it ou but if you think of small oem ones let me know

Anything besides water or antifreeze is dangerous and typically illegal with most rules. Mostly because you wouldn't want to risk having it get on you, breath it, or have it catch fire in the event of a rupture. It just has horrible idea written all over it. And what is the heat exchange efficiency of hydraulic fluid, oil, brake fluid, or whatever?

Good point on heat exchange I think I will try a table spoon of brake fluid this Friday I have a show. Not enough to hurt me or anyone just enough to get a few more degrees out of my coolant. And I'll check later on the heat exchange. Probably high because brake fade happens often to hot brakes

Just curious cause at my last show the one guys car when it got hot it really stunk of hydraulic fluid I completely agree about safety concern of boiling chemicals though

Thinking about buy one of these to stick off in a car that's on its last leg that you can't fit a full size radiator they also have a three core for about 30 bucks more figured yall might like a cheap radiator too

gonna put my "facts" from my first two years here....plastic rad loops are junk.my Honda got hot, melted it, and blew it apart. shouldn't have used it. The civic rad can cool just about anything, with the hoses resized like stromi said. the fan you use will make the difference. after tracking down the rad, the fan, resizing the hose and install and wiring it up you could have just bought the loop and been done with it.e ven mount a fan on the hood if you like wouldn't hurt. looped the lines in a 3400 with straight water, got crazy hot in twenty minutes. ran the same setup in a 3800 with a cup of fabric softener, didn't have the problem as the 3400. a buddy was hell bent on running a radiator fan from a ranger, seen it on a derby page and wouldn't let me talk him out of it. he lost the rad,and pegged the fan against the block. drew his batter dead.so IF you must use a fan, throw a damn fuse on it. last two derbys i un-mounted the rad and let them dangle with seat belt straps. really kept the rad from busting ears and gave me an extra ten minutes......always run a rad, unless you run a Honda, you cant kill those little #&^$%#ers. keep the METAL loop handy if you lose a rad. these are compact tips, full size may not apply here.

Any type of oil in cooling system will soften up radiator hoses, not a good thing.

I run a gutted thermostat in run mix of antifreeze/water in add amsoil coolant boost to it. With a electric fan out of mercury sable that had v6 in it with tru cool radiator very efficient package right there, someone has been paying attention. Why is the antifreeze a good idea? I have always ran just water with hollow thermostat a water wetter.

It raises the boiling point, prevents freezing over the winter, and lubricates the water pump.
