quick question, ill try to make it not confusing im running a compact car, so the radiator in the car is compact size (obvi) (ford escort) if I were to take out the rad and try and run a very small rad in the car would it be better or worse? would it be harder for the rad to get hit and crack because its smaller and more condensed instead of large, take for instance a tire if you run a large tire its a bigger target if you run a small tire its harder to get hit, does that work for a radiator? what do you guys think? Yes a smaller radiator will work fine as long as it has a good fan.

when you guys are looping coolant lines are you using a temp gauge? or possibly putting the heater core in an ice box with the trans cooler?

A engine will let you know when it's to hot to run. Some handle being hot better than others.

Engine getting too hot to run usually not the end point. Not being able to start a hot engine is usually what puts you out. Timing, fuel management and good electrics are where it's at. Temperature is what it is. JMO.

Lol I've got some decent money in my engine, yet, I don't run a temp gauge. But it seems to always fire back up, and that's when it dies, which is a rare occasion. Don't be afraid to run your engine to the max. This is a derby, not a Nascar race. Being as you are asking this question, I don't see it that you are running a high quality event. Probably just a county fair with 10-15 car heats. Go out, wreck sh*t, and have fun! When you run heats that may take an hour or longer, then you worry about your temps. But, even then, most guys still don't run gauges.

I have too much money in my engine to even run it in a derby. But wtf else am I going to do with it. I love making junk. I don't run a gauge. I don't want to know. Give her hell till your stick is broke.

I run a temp gauge just out if curiosity sometimes. Lol last year at irredell I ran my inline six up past the 280 mark & pegged according to my gauge. nate knocked my distributor out of time. After him and furr where done, we pulled the distributor back around, and she fired up like a dream. I couldn't have been more proud of that turd.

I'm running into clearance issues and I need to find a small and skinny fan and I'm looking for some suggestions on oem fans I could get at the junkyard. Like I said I'm very limited on space for example a civic rad is still too big and too fat to work for me. Any suggestions would be appreciated
