next time if you want to try it the other way for academic exploration- try doing it the way you started (full welded trunk lid with deep canoe) but skip the notch in the frame. This works best with flat stacks relocated to under the frame rails but even if you can't do that you will get a different result than what you will get with this car. Study each one after it is toasted and you will learn a lot.
Generally speaking.... leaf packs are the key limitation when choosing between "stay straight" and "roll up". The more freedom you have with leaf packs to make them stiff, the more you will benefit from the "stay straight" strategy.
Another way to think of it is: the closer you have to be to stock, the better off you'll be with a "roll up" strategy.

Looking for a little input, will this roll and pack very well. I've wasted way to many good mopar's with trial and error. I will be putting small bumper on the rear to tie the bumper shocks together, but can't see wasting a good bumper in pack.

^^^ I would also slice the tops of the 1/4s in line with the tuck and canoe from the tuck to across the speaker deck

Okay I'm going to weld the trunk lid shut in four other places also. And I had already started pounding down the 1/4s right at the tuck, but you thank a slice would be better? It's pretty much rust free but every time I build them to stay straight I end up looking out the back to see the top of my deck lid. Lol

I prefer a slice.
The thing about building them to stay straight is that they won't stay straight indefinitely, eventually they give up and then you're trying to look through sheet metal. The good news is that if things go right you handed out a lot of damage before it gave up. The thing about building it to roll is that it will fold up much faster but if things go right it will tighten up at some point and be pretty tough plus you will still be able to see.

Thanks, I'll give the slice a try.

can't see the slice or dimple on the tops of the 1/4's, a glove is covering the area on one side and the pic is cut off on the other.
Also I would canoe it a whole lot deeper than that.

I'll try to get a better pic. It wouldn't go down anymore on the trunk lid I beat it down with a 20lb hammer and stopped when trunk skin started to rip.

It most likely won't go down any further with the allthread sleeved on the inside of the lid.

Run it and see what you think, if you feel there is room for improvement you can adopt some changes to the next one. You're on the right track in my opinion.
