Paint turned out pretty good and I got permission to build my own bumper brackets because I couldn't find any stock ones, so it was a good weekend.

Anyone run a Cressida wagon? I can pick up a roller cheap. Thinking about dropping a 2.3 in it.

Strut tower layed over and bent my throttle linkage, broke the distributor cap, lost the water pump early, tweaked a motor mount and got a hole in my fuel line. Fired up still after I patched the fuel line but with it running wide open it was flooding so the only way to keep it running was to flip the fuel pump off and on. Didn't make it for the main but had a blast anyways. And since it was a corona wagon that did 90% of the damage and didn't bend an inch I am going to find one of those!

What about 76 corolla ? I can pick up a pretty clean roller for a bill, worth the build ? Motor is blown but I have a 2.3 ford 4 cycl and trany, I'm willing to bet it'd fit, or more to the point I could make it fit.

Some of the 22r efi motors have 2 sets of intake manifold bolt holes. And yes you can install a carbed intake on them. I did this with a 4 runner that the fuel injection wouldent work properly on. Easy swap..cut and plug all the vacume lines on the carb . I did this while the thing was running before I attempted the swap.Just to be sure it would run with no pollution stuff ...It dident care ;-) This was on an 86 with the rounded valve cover
I have run an 81 Toyota 4x4 till the timeing chain wore a hole thru the cover into the water jacket... Then started the next motor in -45c without it plugged in...spit the oil seal out of the pump and leaked like a stuck pig for a week till I had time to replace it. Trans full of brass and grind nearly every gear for a few years of daily driving(sometimes I ground them to freak people out) 84 shortwheelbase 4x4.. 2 86 4runners, one converted to carb. One not converted Now beating the crap out of a 91 with the v6the 4 bangers will take a pile of abuse, not sure about heating I had one blow a head gasket once New gasket and it still runs sweet now. 4 speed will interchange with 5 speed (if you move the rear mount and make or fit a driveshaft ) Diff flanges are different bolt pattern for some years , but with the center locator on the end of the driveshaft you just turn the diff flange 1/8 of a turn and drill new holes. starters from a 20r fit, and I suspect the head will as well(though I never tested to see)
I have Toyota manuals, so if you need info.
Heres the 91...It only has 450000k on it

Any tips on building the front of a 81 celica hatch? I'm running an outlaw productions limited weld show.

Thought I would share a picture of my 2 RWD Toyotas. Left is a 83 Corolla with 3TC, Right is a 79 Celica with 20r. The corolla front bumper bent up and pushed into the clutch fan, it was replaced with electric fan and the hood was slid forward. With the hood slid forward the bumper hasn't moved, and there is enough air flow with the hole I cut out for the electric fan. It lasted 2 more derbies when the clutch burnt up, however having large tractor tires didn't help that situation once the trunk started to rub the tires. On the Celica the front bumper seams were welded and mounts were welded, but turned into a spaghetti noodle after one derby, Frame started to bend in front of the motor mounts. Radiator and clutch fan were lost, radiator was pushed into the power steering pump which actually protected the distributor. Neither engines have given me any issues. Never lost a head gasket. On the 20R I've put a Weber WK746M - 32/36 DGV, and exhaust stacks. If you want to reroute the wiring in the front driver fender, then I recommend researching Toyota off road forums which explains how to do a GM Ignition Conversion DR100. board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=75381.0

^^^^^^Those are large for sure. I thought that was a Colorado special. What about 76 corolla ? I can pick up a pretty clean roller for a bill, worth the build ? Motor is blown but I have a 2.3 ford 4 cycl and trany, I'm willing to bet it'd fit, or more to the point I could make it fit. If it's not to late to matter..... I would give a Benny for it. Will be finding out in a couple days what it takes to fit a built 2.3 into a 76 Celica.

If you guys want to build a screamer 22R, locate a 20R head and intake. It'll bolt onto your 22R block and it bumps the compression up quite a bit. Definitely the cheapest and easiest way to make some nasty power out of a junkyard engine.

Why such HUGE tires out back? The tires on the left came with a car I bought at $100 (were already tubed and flapped mounted on 14inch toyota 4 lug rims), and the tires on the right were a $40 investment, with a dealer sponsorship covering the cost of tubing and mounting. If we had a dry dirt track I wouldn't need the tread, but our track is wet and slippery clay-like mud.

Well, getting the 2.3 into the Celica is going to take a rear sump pan and a lot of firewall hammering.

A "T" slit in the tunnel, some hammer work, had to drop the steering center link a couple inches, use a rear sump pan, and use a homemade trans cross member, but the 2.3 is indeed sitting in the Celica. It makes about 160 HP, and spins about 7800 rpm. With a 4 speed and 3.73 gears, that's gonna be a fun little car.

Lesson learned......don't make it bullet proof from the a-arms forward unless you are allowed kickers up to the a-arms.
