Double check you year. Last rwd model was 1985. They really don't need alot of help. Maximize the rules you have. Front struts bend fairly easy, and there is wiring in the fenders that needs re-routed. Otherwise, they are pretty solid all around.

they hate heat. headgaskets blow and timing chaing break often. im speaking from driving a truck with a 22re daily. look close at yurs under the hood there should be a sticker, if it says 22-re-c you have the higher compression and built to handle a turbo option. 22-re-n/rn is std truck/car

I have only used one. It ran good for a couple heats then shot a head gasket.

It runs strong so hopefully it will last a heat or two. Then maybe i can stuff a 2.3 in it

The 22R is a super beast, while it lasts. Seemed like it held together great til the first broken radiator. Even when it went, it stayed running til I shut it off. Then it never fired again. The rwd Celica front should hold for quite awhile though.

Someone else......I had reverse issues with mine, so I spent most of my time in forward. Others that I have seen have held up well in the back, but I don't know what was done to them. Is yours a hatch or trunk model?
I'd like to know that one as well...we have 3 more of these to run, '76 & '79 with trunks, and '83 with hatch. The first one I ran was an '83 trunk.

Its a hatch it looks like it will do ok that and its almost rust free helps my only other concern with it is that the front suspension looks weak. But we will see what happens. I also figured out what do with the struts im gonna make new ones out of 3"pipe that had should be plenty strong

Struts bending is the only front end problems I had with mine. I had deep dish wheels, so they never bent far enought to interfere with th ewheels rolling, but at a certain point, steering gets funny.
