IDK, these bumpers are pretty hard... we will see tomorrow how she does.. Noser is going to post some pics of car. Then i will send him some afters.. Thanks brother. Some evil cars i will be running against.. 4K to win payout show in Woodstock Va today.. Planning on abusing my car till she croaks.. Should get some good data on what this rear does.. Cage is designed to keep the roof in place and the trunk in its general area. Anticipate the quarter panels blowing out and the whole mess balling up.. Being coiled with the frame boxed to hell and back i spent considerable time working on it at the bottom of the hump plates as i dont want it buckling down there.... Everyone knows these are noser cars but i want the rear to at least not take the car out of contention... Mark Mark Good luck today, I'll be watching the derby from the podcast. Anxious to see how she holds up for you, there's going to be some hard cars their.

Nice build. How the hell did you get to run? I called he said a lot that was done to mine wouldn't go through inspection. I would've been way under built by the looks of it. Nice build again.

Not real long run. Had to pull nerat/ski equipped trans out last minute and put a stock one in because of a pump problem. Sheared bell off trans...
Had a few good hits though. Went nose to nose with a shocker imp and bent steering column with my chest..
Half tracked an almost stock bubble lincoln so hard I put his bumper and clip to the firewall in one hit. His factory white paint vaporized and it was snowing paint when I backed up.
Car needs a little sheet metal patching , front foot of pass frame rail needs pulled down and plated and front bumper needs something harder. Needs a new steering column and trans and she will go again. Didn't use back. It's still cherry

Those bumpers are decent for a stock type build... But for a harder build like that... Ouch.

I heard they were equivalent to 74 impala bumpers but now i wonder. I have ran impala bumpers stock on pretty hard cars and had good results. I wanted it to flatten out a little and then stop but that didnt happen.
I have something for the next round.. Have to get it on my buddies frame machine first and pull the pass frame rail down. It kinked up bad at the drag link. Should be an easy fix.

I ran one on a full weld car, held up real well but in the end the backing broke on the edges of where the triple box ends and flattened out.

Older thread, but how's this compare to a 75(?) electra (trust me, aside from being an old iron buick, the owner has NO idea what he's doing), 75 Monte, stock crown vics, and the rest of the field being primarily weekend warrior 80's gms? I'm planning on running a 73 in a stock class, GTP, full cage with down bars, etc, but what's the best way to do the trunk lid so it doesn't mess anything up? I've been told the trunk lids are very hard, when compared to the rest of the rear end parts.

The front stub is the same, from my understanding, as the 74 rivi. Arguably the best GM front there is (not including caddys). Rear the thread kind of shows it. Dont build hard or the humps will take the abuse. The white and green one in this thread is probably the best boat tail backend ive seen. Id try to duplicate that somewhat.

Well, stupid f-King rule, but I'm not allowed a GTP at one show, so how could I make up for that on the back end?

Eh, its mostly a promoter decision because alot of the times plain and simple it isnt actually there for its intended purpose. I still say do it close enough to the same as white and green one. These cars rear body lines are in reality wrong for our sport. Make it soft, try to get the back bumper to touch the speaker deck and drive forward. Hard is not the key in the back.

Rule changed, they're allowed now, 24" wide and can't be touching sheet metal, no clear definition on how far though. Also, this car is a bucket. The roof and floor is bad, as is the trunk floor. I've patched many floors and trunks, but the roof is odd. I'm thinking of just taking a hood, slicing it to curve around the roof, and do some straight cuts in the hood to kind of plug weld it to the roof. Thoughts?
