I have an 84 vic I want to tilt it but doesnt look like theres gunna be enough left on the tab to weld it back without playing it. My question is what do you all think about just cold tilting behind the crush box for the first show then I will be alowed 4 plates per frame rail after its ran then tilting at the box when I can plate it.

A stock show im running allows us to weld or chain suspension. But no frame welding so i cant tilt. Is there any point of slamming the back down and chaining it? Lr just weld chain around the front and leave it

Lr just weld chain around the front and leave it IMO you would not want the back lower, it puts the front rails at an even steeper angle. A level ride height would be better.

Chain front and kick springs? Do that and Put some front springs in the rear if you can to stiffen the ride up and level it,you may need to pull the rear down a little and chain it depending on the height of springs you use. Your looking for a stiff level ride on a stock set up. If you can't swap rear springs you can stuff old rags inside the shocks to raise the rear to match the front, just be sure to cycle them by bouncing the rear hard a few times or drive it around a field you often have to add rags a few times to get the height right.

Can i get some betterinfo on how to cold bend from someone? I have read through this article and found little to no helpful info on "cold bending". I would tilt but we are not allowed to cut and weld on frame.
From what i gathered i need to chain my car frame down to the trailer. Heat up the frame (on the sides of the tranny mount?) and place two bottle jacks under the frame where i want it to bend. Then do i jack them up there? Or should the front tires be off the ground? Can i leave the car body on the frame? Cars i have are an 88 vic and a 96 gran marq. Also a 77 marq, is this car cold bendable? So many questions any input is appreciated. A diagram would help.

Dont heat frame? Will it bend the same or will it kink? Ive never done it dont know what to expect. Do the body mount volts still line up or do i have to make new holes? Rules state i have to use factory mounts and bolts.

I use a piece of angle iron on top of my jacks so it kinks where i want... Leave the body on and all mounts in just suck the mounts tight after, if you leave the mounts in it works fine it'll just bend the floors

I have to weld in a new tranny mount right?

Just weld a piece of angle to the frame and set the cross member on that. also when tilting i used a piece of 3x3 and stretched from rail to rail and jacked in the middle.

So, what's the verict? When cold bending what's better? Jack it up under the boxes or between the box and cross member. Read both ways on this thread. Wondering what actually worked.

Both ways work, the outcome after the derby depends on the car, every style of frame bends different. And it also depends on what hits you take and give. The object is to straighten the front section with the middle section, correct? ((That is assuming your running your car at a relatively level stance) if your sucking the back end down that's different too) But in general cold bending for a semi stock show, That's why I prefer to cold bend at the boxes. As long as you can do it and not rip the flaps, or welds at the boxes. Afterwards you'll see the frame sections allot straighter with each other verses bending at the cross member... IMO bending at the tranny cross member is ok if you can weld angle there to support the place where you just weakened the middle section of the frame with a kink. Some stock shows won't allow it though. So there are many variables to consider. But I still prefer the boxes especially if I can hot tilt... But everyones build style is different. It really comes down to what's quicker or easier for your build
