Ran my cold bent 87 merc this weekend... Bent at c member, frame chopped off the front back to the front body mount, stock body mounts everywhere but the core support, 74 Monte bumper on front hard nosed with 58 Ford brackets back to the a arms, bent down sightly below level, no protectors .. Have no pics but it was by far the worst car I've ever ran, was nosed in about 4 hits, went back so hard that my dist shattered on my dash bar..... You can view the video in the video section, Mott ND heat 3 posted by Schirado36... It was the only 80+ Ford there

I prefer to tilt at the boxes, and definitely change body bolts. I tiled a merc at the cross member, and at the boxes, & ran it at three shows and got mad dog once, finally junked it because the rear of the car was too far gone. I used the front more than I did the back, it barely moved. That's the only one I ever tiled at the C-member.
You kinda got gang raped though all in about 45 sec.

I understand how to tilt a car and all but my question is do you have to adjust the motor mounts to make the motor sit level or can you just leave factory mounts in. will be running the stock engine and trans

Do you have to have your body off to tilt.

Cold tilted at the x member, had about a 9" at the core, got it sucked down to about 5" - 5 1/2" right now but still have about 1/2"-1" at the firewall body mount. have to be stock mounts stock bolts stock location. Am I going to be able to suck the firewall tight with out ripping the mounts out?

Its not a good idea to pull the body down using stock mounts it tends to put to much stress on the fenders and mounts and it tears apart

If I'm building a vic to a show that allows hump plates I'm not tucking it. Also can you run a pulley protector or cradel?

OK Gentlemen. I have read all 22 pages about tilting. I love all the discussion and input. I did not see anyone talk about tilting a-arms forward. There are a few guys around me who say this how they do it. By the way we are running cold tilt rules only. How are they tilting a arms forward. I don't understand this because the frame is tilted up at the crush box's. How is tilting a arms forward beneficial? Tilting a arms forward is still not eliminating the tilt at the crush box's, IMO. Please give me some more input. Pics are always great. Please note your input is helping out a 16 year old kid who is getting into the sport. This year will be his second season and his first Vic, (1993). Thanks Guys.

If I could only tilt a 79-02 in one place it would not be in front of the a arms.

Cool, thanks a lot. Because we are only allowed to cold bend. Looks like we're tilting at the crossmember.
