Many places sell adapter plates that allow you to use stock chevy upper mounts. My LS is in a caprice with stock uppers and lowers right now.
I kept all the patterns to make another cradle and protector if someone wants me to build them one. depends on if you do a dist setup like me or an msd box, this will dertermine what you need.
TH400 bolts on no adapter(one bolt isnt used). Must use certain flywheel.

Like ã said, there are lots of options for mounts out there. I dont do vics, impalas, or other cookie cutter cars so its not as easy for me. im into lincolns, galaxies, imps and cadillacs. The are a little harder but no different than other stuff. actually easier in most cases. i think i can use 9 bolts on the left and 8 on the right.
400's bolt right up and like ã said, depending on the year and cu in of the LS there are small hoops to jump through for a flexplate. Not expensive though.
i do build them turn key, about 3500 like anyother engine guy just depending on what you expect out of it.
There are quite a few guys building dps ect
They are not as hard to deal with aws you think. Knowing almost everything there is to know about either one i do think the LS stuff is a better package with all things being equal. Dollar for dollar, lb for lb and hp for hp the LS stuff will bury the SBC. Twice as easy to work on also.

Found what i was looking for moroso makes an adapter for a BB chevy water pump to go on an ls part #63615 with -12 an fittings to do a remote style thermastat housing for $100. Anyone ever figure out a cost effective way to mount a different harmonic balancer to use regular 3 bolt pattern pulleys? and the bolt that holds it on seems to be really on there my half inch gun wont bring it. i either got to take my impact back the snap on man or can i heat it without hurting anything up there cause i understand the oil pump is at the front? if someone could help me out be much appriciated. Thanks

:olooks badass shoe! cant wait for the afters. you have anymore pics of the progress! jr16 I have some engine and car build pics. I will put the car pics in 73-74 cad thread. I had some bad luck in the heat race (in wa we do bump to pass heats) lost a rr tire early and was loving the power so continued to race and was passing everybody when the tire was almost off in a corner a car hit the lr just rite and sent me onto my side the springs rolled out and I went back and forward and broke my slider when the lower controll arms tacoed. Day was over but the ls was great. Thats all the engine pics I have You need to contour the ears to te housing/axle tubes that's why your welds broke

i there is may reasons it didnt work out. but foremost when starting work on a cadillac go ahead and throw away the oem arms. they will leave you stranded every time. at the least they need to be heavily reinforced especially the right upper one. when that first one gives away its all over. slider or no slider.

We have been building the ls engines for the derby guys as well as high end dirt mods and late models, we have been having lots of success with the so far and we are working oil squirters in them right now, we only making them better than what they are from the factory.

very nice, sounds like a pretty stout derby package. What kind of power do they make and what engine size and package to you recommend? Most people dont know wat they want in engines especially in the LS stuff.

Most people dont know wat they want in engines especially in the LS stuff. We are building the 5.3 for now but we have plenty of 6.0 cores available also but we haven't tried those yet in this application, we are making 385-400 right now, there is plenty left to grow with them were just keeping them in a safe mode right now, sounds like you know your stuff on the ls engines as well and understand how powerful this engine is to start with. The LS1 car was our build and so was squrerootracings on here, we have one sold to the guys over at DEC for this coming year and several others interested but like over on our dirt engine side people do not like change so intill we have more out there its harder to sell. You can go to our website at www.baldwinengines.com and check out our dirt mod pics as we went together with it under the pic section.
