With their width, I'd stick with a Magnum or LA.

Just got a 318, came stock with roller lifters and cam, out of a 90's dodge pick 4x4. I just wonder if anybody has ever tried one of these in a derby.

Anybody ever use the Engine Quest heads on their Magnum motors? Been thinking of buying a pair. Few websites i've been on said they're better flowing heads then factory magnum heads.

No hands on experience but did a ton of research on them. Better casting, more meat in the spot where they crack, make better power and are cheap. And you can get the magnum heads with the old intake bolting pattern. Good value for what they are.

I also did a lot of research before buying a set of these myself. And after deciding to go with them I gave eq a call to see if they had any on shelf and ready to go and since they did and I don't live all to far out of Las Vegas I just drove down to their shop and picked a set up in person. Since I couldn't really find anything negative about them online and pretty much everybody seemed happy with the product I figured seeing them first hand would be the best way to go before purchasing them. I opted for the ones with the carb intake bolt pattern and though I haven't actually bolted them on and ran them yet I would have to say they are a pretty nice looking product for the money. About the only thing I can say about them is there is a small amount of casting flash like a bridge that was left in the chamber running from the valve to the surface. Not a huge deal but definitely something that needs to be removed before installation to avoid detonation in a hot engine. Otherwise I'd say they are pretty nice and can get you some pics if you'd like

They are pretty well manufactured and machined I would say. Taking them to a machine shop would tell how true the surfaces actually are on them. I bought the loaded heads and that might not have been a wise choice seeing as I will probably end up having some machine work done to them to accept larger diameter vavle springs at the least and probably have them checked to see how true the surfaces are.

I have 3 of them now but haven't messed with any of them yet.

I'm going to use my first magnum for a test motor, then go bigger for my 2nd one.
