Anyone know the results of not notching/dimpling/prebending on a 2 door bubble (98)?

I saw about 3 drivers side CV Axles break on bubble Cavaliers yesterday, including mine. Dumb mistake.

Went to squeeze between two cars and they came together at the same time. Ripped it right out. The subframes bend pretty easy, that why the joint seperated.

yeah I would say the lower control arms and cv axles are very weak on these cars, bubble cavys. I pulled out in my heat and I had the shifter linkage pop off at the trans( never even messed with this or had any touble with that) but I had to drive in reverse the whole time and I got caught on the wall and took one good hit to the front and it my drivers side was hung on the barrier and it ripped the lower control arm clean in two and trashed the cv axle. but using althread through the frame and core support and sucking the hood down tight seemed to help with the sway problem

Cuple more tips for the 95+ Bubbles, I've heard (never tried) that the Convertibles have a strut stabilizer bar that runs across the two struts (Like many of the Ricers have) and this is supposed to help keep everything together so your axles don't pull out. Also, avoid hitting with your wheels turned out. If you're going to make a front end hit, MAKE SURE YOU HIT SQUARE. The trunks do go down on these when left stock. Take off the rear bumper, jack up the spare tire area and hammer down notches in the frame. I tie the car down to my tow truck and use the loader to help it start to go up, but not everyone has this luxury lol. The bubbles are fairly tough cars, and they're plentiful as hell. Just like any car you can make it tough with some work

Notch, prebend, and pray. Pre bending the roof should held some too. Removing the rear bumper and maybe the tail gate is not a crazy idea on those. They drop to the ground faster then their fullsized realatives. JMO I ran one prebent and notched. It started to roll up and pack but eventully still went down to the ground.
