In running a 1979 Bird this year and out local show has changed a few things, first is with the trunk
"You may install two pieces of all-thread at the trunk area, this may be through the frame and have a washer top and bottom, or be welded to the frame directly with no added metal"
All of the origal body mounts must be stock design and stock location, so I have to leave the pucks in. My question is where should I add this all tread, max size is 1"
Second question on the trunk, new this year we have to stitch weld the truck, out skip/weld is from 1" to 6" but it must be uniform all around the trunk. In past years we could weld it solid. So is there any advantage of doing 6 on 6 off vs 1 on 1 off?

Thanks in advance If you single notch/dimple, which I would do where the frame narrows down in the rear like 18 inches back or whatever, I would weld your all thread a little behind that. I mean between hump and notch/dimple. Welding 1 on 1 off will allow a little extra weld more than likely and the trunk lid having a small span between welds will allow less bending making the trunk stronger. Just be careful not to overdo the strength of the trunk sheet metal as these do dump at the humps sometimes.

show was pushed out a week do to rain, but here is how the ol' bird sits as of now, I might tweak a few things but its mostly ready

Track was really sloppy, lots of rain on clay. Made one good hit with the front and its still perfect got a weird corner shot in the ass end and it bent my hump. I had the brackets slid all the way in the frame, and a 1.5" window notch right behind thr all thread.

I have a 78 that spun a main on the 302. How hard is it to 350/th350 swap or should I just throw in another 302

I am in the process of doing this myself looks like u just have to put about a 3/4 spacer under the Chevy motor mounts to clear rear steer. Done that in the past on 70’s Ltd seems to work. My pic on the side is just that Chevy in a 77 Ltd. I have a 78 that spun a main on the 302. How hard is it to 350/th350 swap or should I just throw in another 302

I welded the sbc lower mount to a piece of channel and welded that to engine crossmember. I used the factory transmission crossmember and welded 2 plates on bottom of frame that were slightly over sized and I bolted the trans crossmember to them.

Have a 77 I’m gonna build for smash it kicker, 2018 rules. Any tips besides hardnose & tail? Thought about trying to scorpion tail behind the humps. Would like some input.

I think so. How big of a difference does the double box make? I've heard about them and seen them at the junk yard, but never seen one run.

I thought it was just the 74 tbirds on the ford side. But not sure. I haven't heard much on them. I just bought one recently but haven't had a chance to look at it that closely

His bent pretty close to the same in a stock class as my Thunderbird. These tend to bend a-arms forward and at the hole in the frame rail behind crushbox, so I don't see the double crushbox helping until you at a minimum add a body bolt or something to the hole in the rail behind crush box.
