All i did to my 77 tbird was hardnosed it with 4" of plate behind a homemade bumper and jacked it up as high as it could go and welded the a arms. Stayed parfectly straight for 4 runs. 5th run she finally nosed

If you can somehow get the front suspension higher, you miiiiiight be able to tilt it.. just restub it.

Have you looked at the frame geometry in front of the a arms? I would never tilt one

Pardon my ignorance because I am not a Ford guy, but what is so drastically different between a 74 Lincoln and multiple 74-78 LTDs and a 77-79 Thunderbird?

From what I understand (also not a ford person of this age) its got a different crush box making the tilting different.

Pretty much same idea I would imagine between the two. I would think if one had tilted a 74-6 they would only need a glance at a 77-9. I for the life of me can not understand how it would help one. The way we drive and hit over here you would be plowing dirt with the front after a couple hits

Why it would work in my mind is your straightening the bend between a arms and firewall (which is good) but making the bend a arms forward more drastic. The way bumper bracket rules have been lately, atleast in my area, thats pretty simple to fix.

I understand the philosophy of how it will help behind the A arms, but i just think tilting every car doesnt help. Some cars are better left alone. The way there already pointed down in front of the a arms would get pretty bad if you tilted much i think.

I agree, it would take just the right set of rules(plate a arms forward, very good mounting rules, high bumper height)...

Lincoln continental mark 4s have a double crush box as well as 71-76 tbirds and cougars
Ltds have a crush box similar to new styles but have a floating tranny crossmember like caddy's
77-79 tbirds and cougars have more like a gm design and not much of a box...
Like previously stated I've tilted a number of ltds and a few Lincoln's...never tried a 77-79 tbird so was wondering if someone had. I've built and junk 25+ 70s fords never ever had one go down in front. If no one has done what I'm looking for that is fine was just looking to see if someone has and how they have done it and how it worked. Thanks
