I can’t remember what year I bought unfortunately. But you’ll still need to take em apart and sleeve em to make em solid. And you’ll need to use the Vic top plate to bolt em in the cradle.

Nah. Just trying to hang. I would make sure to get the struts with the rubber boot tho so they can’t see and get weird about your sleeves

I scrolled through the thread and read that the f150 struts were 7 inches longer than the Vic ones. So I did some fabricating to the stock ones and made them longer and welded solid. Hopefully all goes well. I’ve heard and read that the factory ball joints are trash. So is it worth cutting a box ford pair and running bolt in ball joints?

We can’t swap A arms and spindles but with the coils being left in, that helps a lot and then we tack the ball joints in.
Also, 9 wire from lower to upper so if the ball joint does pop out, you can at least keep it in the spindle.

IMO, I wouldn’t waste a good set of box A arms to cut em up and not be any better than the factory ones, IMO

What ball joints are you guys using when swapping 80s spindles with stock suspension? I was told 01 excursion lowers, and I was curious about the tierods also when doing a spindle swap. And when you guys are welding the upper ball joints, where exactly are you guys welding? Thanks for any help.

NLR sells a couple different sets of lowers for 03^ ups. I think the moog lowers are just 98-02 ball joints that are turned down and a snap ring groove cut into it for the derbys you can't weld the ball joints in. Before I knew this I just used a round stone on a grinder and enlarged the hole for the stock size 98-02 lower joint and put a couple tack welds on it. I used moog 80s vic upper joints in gbody upper arms and just welded/bolted the flange to the upper A-arm. Or just weld a press in joint to the oem arm on the top side. I guess this info is for stamped steel upper and lower arms. Not sure what to do for the aluminum lowers.

Are you guys just swapping the top plate on the F150 strut and sliding it in? And whats the best way to sleeve it and make it solid?

Bumper brackets (in factory location) maybe weld continuously to frame 4 inches from the back of bumper only. In addition you may put 4 one inch welds on back side of bumper bracket or to weld shock inside frame
