what's the best way to get the most bumper height on a sub frame with oem parts? Turn torsion bars up 3/4 of the way and leave it or you will have no front wheels to worry about

Picking up my first two imps! ones a 67 4dr the other a 68 4dr. im not supposed to do any welding on it so i was thinking would it be worth even changing the bumper with the beam thats going to win everytime. honestly with me not being able to weld on it anyway idk how i would even attach one, any ideas?. i can run 1 inch all thread through the front and rear two spots each. i also run a robbo lower for my BBM every year. normally i weld that down but was thinking of welding a bracket of some sort off of the lower and drilling and bolting to the cross member some how? dont know if it would hold though. Also have heard some people having issues with the subs dumping out from the car. dont know if i can put bigger bolts in but bigger washers maybe?. Anyway any ideas, problem areas, build strategies would be greatly appreciated. never have gotten the chance to run one of these but now i have 2!.

I wouldn't even bother wasting an Imperial if you can't do any welding. You almost need to be able to do some welding for the trunk to not blow out. Also i'm not really a fan of running an imperial subframe in an imperial. In my opinion these Subframes are a lot better off in a shocker or a 65-68 chrysler y-framer, main reason is they don't bend in a Chrysler if you install it correctly. But I would not waste any imperial in a no weld show period. They are just too hard to find anymore.

i dont know of any other shows remotely close to where im at that will allow these let alone let you weld on them. i have a shocker and a few y framers but figured i will run these first before i rip the sub out. the show im wanting to run these at allows other cars to do some welding and allows imperials with no welding. ive never built one of these so i was curious if there are any tricks or tips on problem areas or anything. thanks

To me its insane not to allow imperials to have the same rules as fords. Tbey have 50 years of rust and decay on top of what the vics have. Especially if you have to run against 03 and newer fords. Are imps invincible now, no hurts to say but they aren't what they used to be before protectors started. Are they still a top car, absolutely. The rear is the same as a y framer and shocker obviously. Biggest thing is make sure the imp k frame is welded to the the sub its self and solid. Bumper choice doesn't really matter unless your allowed loaded bumpers or replica bumpers because if its not loaded the beam will always win down bars like any other mopar and add extra sub bolts if allowed and nose it out and you can hit head on with these unlike other subbed mopars.

Agreed. i dont know much about the ford stuff but the vics seem to be very tough when allowed to do the right things to them. i think people get scared when they hear the word imperial. when in reality there are other cars you can build to compete with them. our rules are so grey id like to send them to you owen and see what you think. they just started allowing 67 and up imps to run and i think we have a couple showing up this next weekend so we will see how it goes.
