Thanks for all the help 307,DMC440, and everyone else, I'll give these tips a try. I just want to strengthen up that front so I don't waste such a nice Mopar.

so what is the strong point to a 73 newyorker bought one and now wondering is it a rearend all the way demo or front end? and i run 400 big blocks and wondering if its gonna bend into my pullys and stuff what is your thoughts? 8 3/4 that is underneath is geared 3.91 and a mini spool and i ran a chain through body around axle aand welded the trunk to the frame and tucked it and ran ready rod next to frame with plates because rules stated that it could not go through frame. im i building it right or not advice would be helpfull have not done anything to front yet but thinking of putting a imp bumper on it with shocks but not sure yet any ideas

I have a 67 Fury with a stuffed sub, but it keeps pulling away from the floor. I have bolted the crossmember in 4 spots up through the floor and have #9 wire wrapped around the sub and it wrapped up around my cage. Is there any other methods besides a halo that would help keep things in place?

Your rules will dictate how much you can do to it but suffice to say the more material and welds you add, the better it gets. Personally when choosing a bumper for a Y frame car I look at the list of "better bumpers" which would be defined as an all-steel, full box bumper from the 70's or 80's and choose one of the softer bumpers on this list. 70's & 80's Ford all steel bumpers are a good choice, or metric GM all steel, or other lesser used ones such as Cutlass or 76-77 Monte or Cordoba or stuff like that. My basic rule is that if the Y frame car gets scrapped and the bumper was savable, I used too hard of a bumper ;D Your question was about which end is better, well IMO neither end is a world-beater unless it's stupid cheated and the competition is not, so plan on using both ends about the same.

1966 Fury II, 318 After feature heres the heat vid, car held up pretty good for being completly stock ummm.... "completely stock" to me would mean (among other things) a stock 66 Fury front bumper. By putting that shocker rear bumper on the front you executed the single biggest improvement that can be made lol not picking on you dude, nice job on the car and the driving but a rookie might read that your car was a "completely stock" 66 Fury and not understand the difference...and what a big difference it is....

our rules only allow us to weld top frame seems from the a arms forward. how can we make the y stronger to these rules. also we can weld our bumper brakets up and the bumper shock up. ?

i would use the brackets on the outside and a modified shock on the inside in that scenario. then weld the bejeepers out of them.

i know im a year early on this, but i just bought (please dont tell me it was a mistake) a 64 New Yorker for dirt price. Not sure what engine it has (if 318 it would be the "old" style right? and not the common LA?) doesn't have much rust. are these any good? or should i take this ugly F-er to the crusher? as i handed the guy cash, i remembered that there was a thread for a 60's yorker, and was hoping that it would cover it. is there any way to build them?

yeah this is the right thread for a 64 NYer and no it's not a bad car with the right touch. The more stock the show is, the less I like these cars. It should have a 413 engine from the factory and a Big Nut 8-3/4 axle. If it has any other engine then someone swapped it.

As ive posted this vid in the past when the question is asked about these cars. This one held up decent. Sure was fun to watch m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=US#/watch?v=U29fUXSgkJQ Hope the link works I tried to do it from my phone
