Are they close enough? I can get a sub for this Newport but if they are months to install to Hell with it I'll wreck it with the y frame in it.

The main point I try to make is that it is not a direct bolt-in like some people seem to claim, you will have to do some fabricating to make it work. Personally.... I think it's easier to put an Imp sub in a 74-78 Shocker body than in a Y frame body because of the structure of the floor but that's a different story. One big thing that I also like to point out is that it depends a great deal on your rules as to how easy or difficult the swap is.... this can also dictate whether lining up the rear mounts or the firewall mounts first is your best option. Big or small block engine makes a difference too.

Small Block Chevy will be ran and I think I understand what your saying I have plenty of steel and a lot of welding wire and unlimited supplies of bolts. Thanks which makes it a easier install firewall first or rear mount install first. We use to put 75-78 Cordoba and Magnum K Frames under 80 and newer Cordobas and Aspens for circle track cars so I think I can handle this.

trying to help a buddy out... what motor options would have came in a 67-68 newport/ new yorker? 383 and what else
EDIT: found it, also had 440s..... my buddy just got a preran 67 newport 2dr, that was ran in like the early 90s, itll be his first car so im gonna let him run my 400 in it from my car from the past 2 years.... anyway i had never looked under the hood, well he just went and got it and called me and said the engine bay looked like it originally had a 6 cylinder, i said bs and that they only had Big Blocks........ anyway, ok the back "frame rail" is bent up right in front of the leaf spring shackle and the frame is completely busted in half there, so should we just pull that down and plate it and try to get the trunk to roll in good and pray it dont bust off again?

Have heard of a /6 being installed from the factory in a 67 Plymouth Fury but never seen it in person.

Also the oil pan on the 400 shocker won't work either in the y-frame. The front of the pan will hit the crossmember and not sit in there correctly when the trans is bolted in. Need a pinch frame or y-frame oil pan. Learned this the hard way.

took some manouvering to get it in there with the original shocker oil pan, took 3 ppl and a few hours and a few beers but we got it in... were able to use the originals on the frame and use the originals on the 74 400 had to do a little fab work for a tranny mount but not bad at all... sits in there real good that car was ran in the early 90s, given to a buddy of mine for his first car, the original build was VERY old school... most interior still in it... im letting him use my 400/727 and a bunch more of my stuff, as well as letting him build it in my shop too.... gotta get new ppl in the sport somehow
