How good are these cars with a 5mph bumper up front and no welding of the frame? Rules allow bumper swap but no frame welding

You will not find a GM nose that is harder than ANY of the Lacs!

Alright, I have read all of the caddy threads already before someone jumps my shit, and I still have a few questions. I am in the process of swapping my 10 bolt bia housing into my 72 coupe deville. From what I read the lowers will bolt up, and I will weld the upper brackets I remove from the caddy rear to the other rear-end. Correct so far?? Hear is my dilemma. I noticed the caddy coils are there own breed as well with bigger upper openings. Do the 10 bolt bia coil mounts line up with the caddy or am I going to need to weld the coil mounts from the caddy rear on the other rear as well?

working on 72 coupe.. and a sbc with DP and ultra bell..I have a few ideas on motor mounting ideas just wondered if anyone had any pics..two ideas i had... im thinking of cutting the backside of the original crossmember sliding some c channel welding it and then mounting the motor to that.. the other idea i have is take dodge ram truck mounts off the frame, welding them to the frame and using my SBM.. with truck mounts and pan ..

If you cant weld the y closed would it be worth it to bolt it instead or just leave it stock? Wondering this myself.

If you can't weld the Y's then I would look for a different show to run it. Bolting might do the trick but not sure. I would bolt over leaving them stock. If the inspectors will not be using a scope, weld the seams from the inside. Oh wait, that would be cheating. Omit that last suggestion.

Are the '68 Caddies good? From reading this thread, it sounds like using the front is best. I can weld top and bottom seam from firewall forward. Found one and want to see if its worth picking up. Thanks!

68 is a crossover year. If it has a y frame up front then it canbe a great car. If the frame dips down like an early ford then it is not as desirable. Either on will be fun to wreck.if it has the horns that bend down then build it like an early ford in front of the a arms and a later caddy behind the a arms

how much difference is there between a 68 and the mid to early 60's cars I have a 65 and I'm not seeing a difference in the frame from the a-arms forward from the other y frame caddy cars. my frame looks like the y framer someone posted on here to show how to close the y's up. Am I missing something because I was thinking about running this car at a tuff show in November or January. Or is this a mistake.
