Was waiting for crank to get back from being turned. It's all together now. Raps quick. Never messed with destroking motors till this one. I'll get a pic of it all together in the car

Guys, in your opinions, would a 283 be a good reliable engine? I've heard good things from some old school guys but I havent seen any on here. Just want some opinions before I go all out on it. Thanks.

IMO it's a very good derby engine. The catch is not putting too big of a head on it due to valve shroud. An the 283 has a real tall deck so it's hard to get compression up without paying for custom Pistons or finding a set of domes . I used 416 305 ho heads with flat tops an Duntov solid can an lifters an it screams .

That looks nice and stout, bought or built? 100% built. Not mine but a really good friend I help building cars and on the chicken farm.

One I threw together last year. 385 sbc, fully balanced, forged crank, and rods, 13:1 with lunati small base circle solid roller. 200cc World heads, fully ported upgraded to 2.05 valves, comp .300 tall endure x roller lifters, comp pushrods, scorpion rockers, stud girdles, billet timing set. Vic Jr intake, sfi balancer and flex plate, all ARP bolts. I recently upgraded the carb to C&S billet aerosol alcohol carb with mechanical fuel pressure bypass. Haven't ran it yet but seems to run good driving around the yard. Sounds good through a set of juice headers. Will report back in july, running in a light wire car.

Shewwww! Sounds like an engine from a modified! Any idea what your cylinder heads flow? I think those older I-037’s were 250- 260ish .... got a nice set stashed in the shop too
