A 74 with 24inch hump plates should be good watching. There are a ton of ways to notch these cars some work more consistently than others and almost all of them are in this thread. The one thing that is consistent is you need to weaken the body at the notch/dimple. I cut a good size square out of the trunk floor right above where I notch/Dimple. There is a lot of structure in the floor of the caddys, If you cut the square out you will see what im talking about. I also cut the cross brace under the trunk in line with the notch's/Dimples. then I get rid of the quarter panel bracing on each side. Last but not least get the car sitting as high as you can. I like to run mine just a little higher in the rear to help with leverage. If it is sitting low you are setting yourself up for problems.

Im not worried bout the leverage. I shortenin the rear frame by sixteen inches. I like a short ass end. Im just concerned once it starts to move itll go down. Wit buicks n fords i never had to worry bout it

I just think itll b so hard in thebody the frame is gunna go down. I shortened a buick wit no dimple n it still rolled up. Hopin it does the same

Are you going to have a gas tank protector?
Either way, i would still give it a little bit of a dimple to encourage it to roll..with a boxed back it will still be hard even if it starts going up imo.

Even if you cut off 16 inches of frame, it will go down if the rest is not built correctly. A caddie rear is kinda like a fomoco, if built correctly it is unbeatable. If you dont know how to build them you most likely wont be happy, and it will be a long derby! Getting a Cadillac to roll properly everytime is an art that takes a long time to master and when you do the rear is still defence only if you know how to drive one.

I think there are some pics of mine in progress on my photobucket page, they are towards the end of it. The creme one on my avatar, and the red one are the same car. Just a different year.
