we did NO steering mods in the 73'... of course the trans tunnel was non existant to the seat.. but that didnt bother us...and YES, the firewall was in-tact... EDIT:... heres a pic of my 350 sittin in the 73 we built... ill try and find the pics of how we mounted it...

Will it help to have a cradle just for the height to clear steering n the fuel pump?

just run a electric fuel pump and you can flop it in drunk and asleep its so easy.....

I've always mounted my sbc off the side of the framecwith 6" channel and never messed with the steering linkage.

after the 4th run.. yes it did.... didnt have a DP at the time.. and before the last run, we cut a decent sized hole out for the dist... apparently it wasnt big enough... lol

I've never done steering mods. Aftermarket lower mounts and a xxx engine cradle get it sittin up high enough you can run stock fuel pump also never had a problem

cant decide whether its worth runnin again or not.. got it pulled down, and tryin somethin new on ass end... just not sure if it should hit the track again.. bent in 5 spots... only allowed 4 plates, even though it looks strait....

thought about it... but contemplating on what to use the 4 plates on? its actually bent in 6 spots now that i think about it...

They are pretty flexible with that type of stuff. Being it is the last show of the year. It looks like your cad still has a lot of life left in it. I would run it again.

its actually my buddys car, but after the last run it was sittin 27" to bottom of pass side.. and 23 on drivers side...
car sat an even 20" to begin with to bottom of bumper...
right now its pulled down to 20.5 on pass side and 20 on drivers...
and nate, we actually got loaded up labor day for having too much done to a 80s caprice that blew the humps to hell..... had 6 6x4 plates...

Considering the location of the steering box and how these cars usually bend I assume that most of you guys are running the stock steering?

I still run a aftermarket column. Pretty easy and relitively inexpensive to make. I have heard of the telescoping portion breaking in the arena.
