Ive seen a top of the line of Gard motor overheat in 20 mins. And that same motor get ripped to shreds by Whittaker's Gropp. Gropp may seem standoffish but the guy definitely knows what hes doing when it comes to building and if you become a customer, no matter how much money you spent he will always be there for you...great customer service. All that said it is your choice in the end. Do what demodave said and do a lot of research. Go to the link that lincoln posted and start from there. Ill tell you first hand you didn't see a Gard motor get hot you seen a starter nose cone break and wedge in the flywheel. You sure do think you know a lot about gropp even know you don't own a single product he sells. I know for a fact Gard sells a great product and stand by it. So before you start puckering up to someone's brown eye you might want to know what your talking about. All the respected engine builders sell great products and all have there following I went to more than 5 different derbies last year.........

Whittakers get prototype motors. So theres no guarantee of anything, for MM for the most part he runs the Ice Cubes. If Gropp wants to come on here and correct me I will delete this post.

It should. He took his to my welding class and my teacher welded it up with a stick. Make sure that you have enough power to get penetration.

I will say the 8 3/4s have been good to me in Crown Vics so far. I bought the Afab back brace and upper ears, and fabricated it. You could easily do it with just angle iron and square tubing though. Can you pm me a pic so I have an idea of what your talking about? And what did you get yours from? I'm worried about being too narrow or too wide I think his is out of a 60s Newport (knowing him he will correct me if if I'm wrong). Make sure it is centered properly when you mock everything up and if I am thinking correctly all 8 3/4 are pretty similar so there should be no problem with it being too wide or narrow. It does makes it easier when you have the body off the frame when you go to mock up.

Also make sure that if your going to weld the upper ears you have a welder that can penetrate well enough. Your typical MIG welder may not do the trick.

what about the ZRT brackets anyone ever use them on a 98-02? im guessing i will haveto run stock control arms so they dont think im cheating. If I remember right they have 2 different thicknesses you can buy. Before you go and sell the whole car like suggested above I would call the promoter and ask which one would be acceptable. If they say neither then get the thinnest ones and hope they dont notice ;D

illinois might be a better venue, seeing how indiana trumped anything coming out of nebraska ever Haha I've seen motors at our local shows that have come from Indiana and they get hot a lot faster than anything coming out of Nebraska. I've never met Scott we've had disagreements on here before. But I will tell anyone this he builds the best motors for this sport...period. Scott congrats on the new location and expanding your availability to customers.

No their not the same. Have to convert the Watts rear end. And a stock 03+ with no cradle swap is weaker than a 98-02.
